NFT projects shutting down or “rugging” (like many of you call it) signals a greater issue with the NFT landscape than just the founder.

NFTs are not a sustainable business model.

Unless you’re just selling art, community, and vibes, founders will always struggle to create something of longevity that constantly pleases their masters (aka holders)

Why?

Because there have been almost 0 NFTs that make a product/service that reaches beyond their holders and fills a need for a broader ecosystem of users/consumers.

And close to none that have become profitable due to post-mint exercises.

NFTs are a fun vibe in a bull market for everyone because hopes are high and money is flowing.

And no one really thinks about how the project can be a sustainable business venture beyond the initial raise cause we are all making money and vibing so hard, so who cares.

But the reality set in during this bear that most of it was just smoke and mirror.

The question remains: how do you create a sustainable business model via an NFT project that doesn’t rely on more mints, current community members to fund it (i.e. merch), or royalties.
