TUC Leader Paul Nowak:
“3 in 10 kids in the North East are living in poverty. 70% of those kids have at least one parent who goes out to work. So they are doing the right thing, but they’re still struggling to get by… It’s time to tax wealth, not workers.”

It was a pleasure to welcome @AnasSarwar to Inverness last month.
Anas will be a First Minister for the whole of Scotland and ensure that the Highlands are not ignored in favour of the central belt.
It's time we had a Scottish government which delivers for our region!
Big Mama Thornton performing "Hound Dog". She released the song first in 1953 before Elvis Presley (1956), his biggest worldwide rock and roll hit record.
Thornton was a blues singer who helped shape the sound of Rock&Roll. She released the song “Hound Dog” in 1953 and it sold two million records and went #1 on the R&B charts.
Unfortunately Thornton only received about $500 from those profits.
The Battle of Bamber Bridge, 1943.
Racist US military police attacked black US troops on British soil.
US military authorities demanded the town’s pubs impose a colour bar, the local landlords responded with signs that read “Black Troops Only” which pissed them off.
A THREAD
Brilliantly done by @BBCRosAtkins
A firehouse of demonstrable lies and far-right disinformation to 200 million people from the world’s richest man and top adviser to Trump. We are in dangerous, uncharted waters.
Awkward. Yesterday, Kate Forbes told @HolyroodSources that previous UK Gov’s unwillingness to share necessary data prevented earlier mitigation of the 2-child cap.
This morning, Shirley-Anne Somerville has told a Holyrood committee that Kate Forbes was not telling the truth.
"If what you want is a centrist campaign that's quiet on trans issues, tough on the border, distances itself from Palestinians, talks a lot about law and order, and reaches out to moderate Republicans, that candidate existed and she just lost"

Kevin Maguire says "Jeremy Clarkson is defending his own tax dodge" & points out figures like Rothermere (the Daily Mail owner), Paul Dacre (the Mail Group editor in chief) & James Dyson have got lots of lands because they thought it would allow them to avoid tax #GMB
📢 Want to support the #StopRosebank court case?
✍️ Tell the Government, and #Rosebank owners Equinor and Ithaca, that this case is also in your name.
🗣️ Your voice can help urge the Government to make the right choice and reject Rosebank for good, if or when they have the opportunity to reconsider this decision.
⌛ We can send a powerful message to the #oilandgas industry that their days of unchecked exploitation are numbered.

@scotgoveconomy @_KateForbes @Cultarlann Lots of ignorant replies here.
I was delighted, as a local Labour Councillor, to visit Cultarlann Inbhir Nis today as they received £370K towards work on their new home in Academy Street. The Committee has done a great job already and has great plans. Well done @scotgoveconomy!
Adam Hills, "Hey America, we can't tell you what to do. You've got a big decision to make, and you've got to go with your heart"
"Do you vote for the person supported by Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Eminem, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Billie Eilish, The Avengers, Cardi B, LeBron James, Rachel from Friends, and even Dick Cheney's wife and George Bush's daughter?"
"Othe guy who has got Kid Rock, Elon Musk, Hulk Hogan and Russel Brand in his corner"
"Or do you ignore all that noise and just vote for the person who's going to be better for women, better for minorities and better for the planet?"
"Right now America, the whole world is watching on desperate to find out what you really think of Donald Trump. And either way, the answer is, see you next Tuesday"
