He was only a god of war in a PSP game, and 1 hour into God of War 2 (where he gave up all his god powers).
Ever since then, he wasn't a god of war.
If you think God of War is his whole identity, you don't pay attention to the Lore or don't care.

@romanova If we are getting technical, Kratos was a god of war for a psp game and 1 hour in god of war 2. He hasn’t been a god of war since.

People really don’t care about the lore and it shows.
