Hossam Hassan
Pressure continues to mount on Gianni Infantino following the decision to suspend USMNT striker Folarin Balogun’s one-match ban at the World Cup, with more than 70 European lawmakers calling for an investigation into FIFA and its president regarding the principle of political neutrality.
Balogun was sent off in the U.S’. round-of-32 game against Bosnia and Herzegovina and was set to be banned for the round-of-16 game against Belgium, though FIFA’s independent disciplinary committee suspended the ban and the 25-year-old subsequently started in the 4-1 defeat.
Before the match, Belgium appealed the decision but it was dismissed by FIFA, global soccer’s governing body.

If Argentina beat Switzerland, they’ll become the first team in World Cup HISTORY to reach the semi finals without facing a single top 10 ranked nation.
Just another coincidence, of course...
From @TheAthleticFC: Egypt’s goal against Argentina should never have been ruled out, a former referee writes. "Argentina’s collective failure to defend their goal because they allowed Ziko to run past them is not part of the decision-making process." https://t.co/AlmLb8xqLH
🚨 Argentina could become the first team in World Cup history to reach the semifinals without facing a single opponent ranked inside the FIFA top 10! 🇦🇷
🚨 BREAKING:
A controversial referee decision from FIFA!
FIFA formed the refereeing team for the France-Morocco quarter-final entirely from Argentine officials.
Don't bother this much, just give the trophy to Messi and don't tire anyone out...
This is one of the funniest things I’ve been sent:
“Not even the British Museum has taken as much from Egypt as FIFA just did.”
Thank you for sending this to me, LS!

Do you know what’s absolutely crazy?
Argentina’s third goal stood for the very same reason Egypt’s goal was disallowed.
Why are they making the beautiful game so fraudulent?
🚨 Jose Mourinho:
Argentina have been heavily favored over the past two World Cups, and it’s starting to look like everything was planned for Messi to win it. They won the 2022 World Cup with so many questionable refereeing decisions, so many penalties, and countless controversies, and now we’re witnessing it again. When is FIFA going to say something about it?
They refused to give Messi a red card in the first group-stage game. Against Cape Verde, the match was full of controversies, and today, Egypt’s goal was disallowed for no reason. The same sequence happened before Argentina’s last goal, yet it wasn’t even reviewed. Argentina committed 13 fouls, and not a single card was issued to any of their players not even a yellow.
I think if this continues, people will have to start asking what’s really going on and whether it’s all being planned for Messi to win it again.
Vimos mexicanos abraçando coreanos e ingleses, alemães aplaudindo paraguaios, japoneses desejando sorte a brasileiros, franceses brincando com noruegueses.... Sempre que tem violência, racismo e confusão é com argentino. 🇦🇷
🚨🗣 Marcelo wasn't happy with Egypt's disallowed goal:
"I don't know if football is becoming too soft or the referee was picking sides, who gives that as a foul? The referee allowed it but VAR called him, isn't that suspicious?
"If this was played 10 years back, no referee will give that as a penalty"
Unfortunately France will need a perfect game against Morocco. FIFA appointing 5 Argentinian referees is a big statement. FIFA is trying by all means to get France out. We all saw it against Paraguay.
