@Jumpshot8 Not arguing with you just cruious.....have you ever said, idk ... "Jason Kidd was the best player on the court tonight even though he shot 27%"
I don’t believe this but it makes the people I am frequently irritated by really upset so I’ll salivate in it. League has never been more in on Sheets than it is rn.
Let’s go through the facts on Jaylen’s “Market” this offseason.
- Brad Stevens didn’t want Jaylen Brown
- Ime Udoka didn’t want Jaylen Brown
- Danny Ainge didn’t want Jaylen Brown
- Charles Lee didn’t want Jaylen Brown
Why is that?
Jaylen just pissed away a first round series then went on Twitch and said it was his favorite season ever lol. People freaking out about losing him shouldn’t lose sight of that
Once you get past shock value and player attachment, the JB return isn’t as bad as people make it seem.
PG can still play and is a better shooter than JB and won’t hijack the offense to get his 20 FGAs. This complements Tatum more and gets Cs more FRPs to move in other deals.
Jaylen Brown legit wasn't a big reason the Celtics were still good this year, it was because of Joe Mazzulla's system which requires nothing more than player conformity to boost offensive rating through turnover suppression and 2nd chance opps combined w/ elite roster depth.
"Derrick White had a better season than Jaylen Brown" should be an uncontroversial opinion but we're probably another 20 years from that being the case 🤷🏾
Jaylen Brown is a great NBA player. I think he's probably one of the 25-35 best players in the NBA. That's nothing to sneeze at.
But Boston's point differential has been worse with him on the floor in each of the last four and six of the last eight seasons. You can explain one or two away (as Boston fans so passionately have), but that's a long track record.
His assist-to-turnover ratio is bad. He's a high-volume shooter with a below-average true shooting percentage.
He more than makes up for his flaws in other ways. Again, he's great. But pretending like he was going to be worth a superstar trade package, especially when leverage was killed by what seemed like a public campaign to be traded, was just setting fans up to be angry.
Knicks on/off splits in playoffs:
Jalen Brunson -0.8
OG Anunoby -9.0
Mikal bridges -1.9
Landry Shamet -12.2
Mitchell Robinson -19.9
They won a championship.
Analytics are dumb.
