Today we honor the life and legacy of Gilbert “Butch” Wallace, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and public servant whose impact on our community will be felt for generations.
Butch is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Carolyn Wallace, their two daughters, Heather Wallace and Michelle Boone, and grandson Tyler Muller. Together they built a family grounded in faith, service, and love.
The Wilson family always welcomed him as “Uncle Butch,” Attorney General Alan Wilson and Palmetto State Armory founder Julian Wilson were especially encouraged by “Uncle Butch.”
A Florida native, Butch attended Florida State University where he earned a degree in Communications and Business. He went on to build a successful State Farm Agency, serving his community for 48 years. Through his work, he not only helped countless families and businesses, butalso, created jobs and contributed to the economic growth of our state.
For more than 20 years, Butch has served as avalued member of my staff, where he touched the lives of countless South Carolinians, including my own. His wisdom and unwavering commitment to others made him an indispensable member of Team Wilson and a trusted friend of all those who worked alongside him.
His dedication to service extended far beyond his professional life. He was deeply involved in his community serving as a Charter Member and President of the West Metro Rotary Club, President of the National Kidney Foundation of South Carolina, a member of the National Federation of Independent Business State Advisory Council, and a member of the Boy Scouts of America Indian Waters Council Board.
Additionally, in 2019, he was a recipient of the Order of the Palmetto, South Carolina’s highest civilian award.
His commitment to civic engagement led him to serve in many political leadership roles including as Chairman of the Lexington County Republican Party and as a delegate to many state and county conventions.
Butch lived a life defined by service, integrity, and kindness. South Carolina is better because of his contributions, and all who knew him are better for having called him a friend. He leaves behind a legacy of leadership, compassion, and service that will endure long beyond his lifetime.
May we honor Butch by striving to serve others with the same dedication and grace that he demonstrated throughout his remarkable life.
South Carolina needs a CEO, not tech support.
Ralph Norman built a thriving real estate empire and fights as a Freedom Caucus conservative.
Rom Reddy? Political insider making millions from government contracts. He uses that to fund the Murrell Smith/McMaster establishment and attacks real conservatives.
Elect a leader, not a pretender. Norman for Governor
🚨🚨 SOUTH CAROLINA REPUBLICANS DESERVES HONEST DEBATE, not desperate smear campaigns funded by shady out-of-state dark money groups.
Over the last several weeks, @SCFreedomCaucus-aligned operatives and allies at Make Liberty Win @MLW_PAC have flooded Republican mailboxes with false and misleading attacks against conservative Republican House members.
These mailers accuse lifelong conservatives of supporting abortion, abusing children, and siding with Democrats. These are outrageous claims designed to divide Republicans.
Meanwhile, our House Republicans delivered historic income tax cuts, protected girls' sports and parental rights, defended the unborn, strengthened public safety, and passed conservative legislation that makes South Carolina stronger every day.
🤔 Freedom Caucus candidates Elizabeth Enns, Abraham Harris, Russell Brazell, Brandy Tarleton, Sherry Hodges, Barbara Arthur, John Allen, Craig Diem, Tripp McCoy, and other Freedom Caucus candidates/members now face a simple question:
❓ Will they condemn these dishonest attacks and the Virginia-based dark money group funding them OR stay silent because they benefit politically?
👀 South Carolina Republican voters are paying attention.

South Carolina mourns the tragic loss of Greenwood Police Department Officer Don “DJ” Keller, who was killed in the line of duty yesterday. Peggy and I ask South Carolinians to join us in praying for his loved ones and the Greenwood community. In honor of his sacrifice, I will order the flags above the Statehouse to be lowered to half-staff on the day of his funeral.
“The First Amendment is designed to protect unpopular speech. Popular speech rarely needs protection. It also protects bad and hateful speech. It even protects lies so long as those lies are not used for the purpose of fraud or other criminal conspiracies.”
As one of his longest and most vocal critics, I would frankly prefer to crawl into one of Comey's conversant shells than write this column. However, here we are. This indictment is unconstitutional and will not likely survive constitutional challenge...https://t.co/F1bDKnhYYw
The myth that our military is made up of children from lower class homes is a lie created by Marxists.
America’s military is overwhelmingly middle class (around 60%)
Wealthy families enlist at a proportionate rate
Low-income families are actually underrepresented
Bob Odenkirk drops a heartbreakingly beautiful truth on Mike Birbiglia:
“Who are you jealous of?”
“Anybody who’s still got little kids at home growing up. No question.”
He explains: When his kids were young, he knew exactly who he was every single day.
“I didn’t have to ask myself, ‘What am I doing here? How can I be meaningful today?’
The answer was simple: Pick up everything between here and the door, make sure they get to school, have a laugh with them.
You absolutely know who you are.
You’re a dad.”
The quiet ache of purpose fulfilled—and now missed. Hits hard for anyone who’s been there (or wishes they were).
Dads (and moms) who’ve had that phase: Does this resonate?
Parents still in the thick of it: Do you feel that clarity every day?
Iraqi militias have attempted dozens of small-scale drone and rocket attacks in a show of support for Iran.
CENTCOM said today it has been carrying out attacks against the militias, acknowledging that the war in Iran is spilling over into neighboring Iraq.
