@agupta My point is that the people who believe H1B jobs will be filled by Americans are right, not delusional or wrong.
Most of these jobs cannot be outsourced to Bangalore, and the United States government should punish companies outsourcing the jobs that can.
Kale became a superfood because a publicist in New York invented a trade association that did not exist.
Before all that, the biggest kale buyer in America was Pizza Hut. Not for the menu. They bought it by the ton, fourteen thousand pounds of it in 2012, and laid it round the salad bar to hide the ice. Nobody was meant to eat it. It was the doily.
Then a PR firm called My Young Auntie went to work. Hermès on the client list, Givenchy, and kale. She chalked it onto boards around Manhattan. Got it onto the menu of a restaurant she already represented. Had T-shirts printed, because obviously. And she set up the American Kale Association, website, Facebook page, thousands of followers, and then rang journalists to tell them she had been hired by the American Kale Association. Actual farming bodies said they had never heard of it. They had never heard of it because it was her, at a desk, in New York. She owned up in 2015 and called it the proudest campaign of her career, which is fair enough.
It went off like a rocket. Bon Appétit declared 2012 the Year of Kale. Dr Oz got hold of it. Paltrow made the chips on television. Beyoncé wore the word on a sweatshirt in a video, Michelle Obama ate the chips on Fallon, and Whole Foods was shifting twenty two thousand bunches a day.
A leaf that was hiding ice in 2011 was a moral position by 2014.
And the noble heritage everyone assumes it has is fodder. Kale is Brassica oleracea, same as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and sprouts, all of them the same wild cliff cabbage bent into different shapes over centuries. Kale is the one nobody bothered improving, because it was never for people. Britain grew it by the acre and called it cow cabbage. Fed it to stock to get them through winter. In Scotland it was so profoundly unremarkable that kail just meant dinner and the vegetable patch was the kailyard.
Then the nutrition, which is where it falls apart completely. A hundred grams is thirty five calories. You could eat a kilo of the stuff, which would take you most of an afternoon and do something permanent to your jaw, and still not catch up with two eggs. The iron is the non-haem sort your gut mostly turns away at the door. And the whole superfood case runs on nutrients per calorie, a ratio that automatically flatters anything containing no calories, so the winner is always going to be something nobody could live on. Congratulations to the kale.
The word means nothing, incidentally. Banned off packaging across Europe since 2007 unless you can back it with an authorised health claim, and nobody can, so it lives on menus and in headlines where the rules cannot reach.
It is also so unpleasant raw that somebody had to invent a technique. You massage it. Grown adults stand at a worktop giving a hand rub to a leaf until it is theoretically chewable, then eat it anyway, because a woman with a fashion client list decided in 2012 that they should.
Pizza Hut had it right the first time. It was decoration.
Kiwi Farms user breaks down 'Izzat', the Indian subcontinent's cultural honor system. It effectively explains every single trope about Indian behavior: they all participate in an invisible clout-chasing game that involves screwing over everyone as much as possible. Worth the read
The left is on a project to enforce equality, despite biology and markets.
The goal of equality gives claim to the moral high ground, but contradicting biology and markets requires censorship and violence, which makes the whole project immoral.
What's really fun about being me… I don't give a f*** what people think. Y’all don’t get it, I really don’t. Once you come to the unfortunate realization that 54% of American citizens read below a 6th grade level, it's easy to just do you. Then account for all the drugs and TDS, it’s zombies all the way down. Let go, you become immeasurably more powerful and grateful. I see people tell these lies, the mainstream media, I literally laugh. Like if you go to Google and regurgitate the 1st thing you find, you're low IQ.
For example, here’s a great lie… I’ve flown for every basketball league I’ve been a part of. Why do people keep saying I can’t fly?
High School (DelaSalle & Hopkins) ✈️
AAU (Howard Pulley & NIKE) ✈️
College (Iowa State University) ✈️
Houston Rockets ✈️
Philadelphia 76ers ✈️
Sacramento Kings ✈️
NBL Canada ✈️
BIG 3 ✈️
So it just gives me so much secondhand embarrassment to see people throw that out there. Tell us you’re a lemming without telling us. It tells me you’re lazy and gullible, a deadly combination. I prefer to drive, I don’t like to fly but I have and I can.
Why don’t I like to fly?
- The thought of dying in a heaping ball of fire when on most days, as I mentioned above, half the people on the plane read below a 6th grade level terrifies me. Even if it’s a low probability, I like to make that one an impossibility when I can. Personally I’d rather get creamed by a semi going the wrong way on the interstate. Then die with libtards on a plane.
- TSA sucks! They’re rude, ghetto and ineffective.
- Driving is awesome, you get to see the country up close, I’ve been to every state twice and you get to bring all the fun toys.
- Too many pilots took the jab, don’t trust their judgment.
- My legs are long and people are fat as hell.
Yes, as President Ground Force 1 sounds cool as hell and all the international dignitaries would come to me. What the hell are we flying to see them for? We pay all the bills? Make us a sandwich foreigners.

I Say What You’re All Thinking
Søren Kierkegaard on the Importance of Walking
“Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Everyday, I walk myself into a state of well-being & walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it. But by sitting still, & the more one sits still, the closer one comes to feeling ill. Thus if one just keeps on walking, everything will be all right.”

One possible explanation as to why the left has no theory of mind of the right comes from Jonathan Haidt’s “The Righteous Mind” (2012).
He shows that moral judgments come from instinct and are then rationalized.
The six moral foundations are care, fairness, loyalty, authority, sanctity, and liberty.
Leftists build their moral world on care and fairness, whereas the right draws on all 6 almost equally.
This implies that the right’s moral range generally allows them to understand the left, whereas the left tend to be unable to comprehend moral worldviews based on loyalty, authority, sanctity, and liberty.
The left is constantly arguing with only a third of the moral vocabulary the right is actually using.
I needed to move a sofa.
I mentioned this to an American. He said, "You know anybody with a truck?"
I did not know anybody with a truck.
He looked at me with real concern. Not pity. Concern. The way you look at a man who has told you he does not have a name.
"You gotta know somebody with a truck."
I asked how one acquires such a person.
He said, "You just do."
This is the third time I have received that answer in this country. It is the answer to everything here. You just do. There is no process. There is only the eventual fact of having.
He said, "Ask Kevin."
I do not know a Kevin. He said Kevin like I should. He said it the way you say a shared uncle.
I met Kevin four days later. Kevin owns a truck. Kevin does not own a truck for himself. Nobody owns a truck for themselves. Kevin owns a truck for a fifteen mile radius.
Inside I said: THIS MAN HAS TAKEN A VOW. HE DID NOT ANNOUNCE IT. HE SIMPLY PURCHASED A BED AND ACCEPTED THE CONSEQUENCES.
Kevin arrived on Saturday. He brought the truck. He also brought a second man.
I had not asked for a second man.
The second man's name is Tony. Tony came because Kevin came. Tony did not know me. Tony did not ask what we were moving. Tony brought gloves.
They moved the sofa in eleven minutes.
I offered them money. Both of them laughed at the same time, which felt rehearsed and was not.
I asked what I owed them.
Kevin said, "Buy the pizza."
That is the price. That is the entire economy. The truck costs one pizza and the pizza is not negotiable and the pizza is also not expensive and everyone knows what size.
Inside I said: THE FEE IS FIXED ACROSS THE ENTIRE NATION AND WAS SET BY NO ONE.
We ate on the floor because the sofa was against the wall and none of us wanted to be the first to sit on it.
Tony told me his daughter plays soccer. I asked if she is good. He said, "She's aggressive."
I still think about that.
Three weeks later, Kevin texted me.
"You free Sunday? Helping Tony move a fridge."
He did not ask if I wanted to. He informed me of a fridge.
Inside I said: I HAVE BEEN CALLED UP. I DID NOT ENLIST. THE PAPERS WERE FILED ON MY BEHALF.
I went. I moved the fridge. I have no truck. I contributed only arms.
Afterward, a man I had never met asked me if I knew anybody with a truck.
I said, "Yeah, I got a guy."
I have a guy.
I am somebody's guy now, too. Tony has told two people about me.
He describes me as "the guy who's strong for his size."
I have never been prouder of a sentence in my life.
@ArtemisConsort I got robbed three times in six years in SF. I only reported the first one. That experience with law enforcement taught me it was pointless to report anything.
Wow! Send A File By Just The Camera!
A vibe coder used AI to build a file transfer system that sends data between two phones using only a screen and a camera.
One phone displays a new type of animated QR codes while the other scans them to rebuild the file, with no Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or cables needed.
It is fully optical and local.
The system uses fountain codes that create each QR frame as a random mix of file data.
This keeps transfers working even if some frames are missed, reaching speeds of about 129 KB/s for a 2 MB image.
The entire project was built in one night and released as open source.
The idea came from a music project where the developer wanted to share MP3 files without streaming or using the same network.
Animated QR codes became the solution, showing a creative new way to transfer files with everyday phone hardware.

Senator Fetterman to Netanyahu:
"Mr. Prime Minister, it was a supreme honor of my time here in the Senate, proud to stand with and for the vision and what Israel is, the miracle that Israel is. I've had the privilege of visiting a couple times, and when you witness it, and you can just realize what a miracle it is. And it's been disappointing, as a Democratic politician, how our party continues to behave – and we had the culmination of that, where that worthless mayor in New York, you know, saying these kinds of ridiculous claims. Now I think, as far as I know, I was the only Democrat that was proud to push that trash back, and now here we are. I'm proud to stand with Israel through everything".
"Compatibility" is a shibboleth of postmodern mind sickness.
The post-ww2 generations, from Boomers on forward, schooled in postmodern nihilism, prize freedom from responsibility above all things, and despise the very idea of any unchosen obligation.
So they seek "compatible" mates.
But what compatible means is, to them, is "my natural, uninfluenced, behavior fulfills my mate's needs". Sometimes they express this as "he accepts me the way that I am".
Which is, of course, a palatable way of saying "I don't want to have to change or do work".
This falls into the gap between a friend and a pet.
A pet is a companion animal who lives with you because its natural behavior pleases you. A cat is naturally cute, quiet, clean, and low-maintenance. A dog is naturally boisterous, affectionate, and loyal. A bird is naturally loud, destructive, and shits all over everything.
You don't get a cat so you can teach it to fetch a stick. You get a cat because you like the amusing way is already inclined to chase a piece of string.
A friend, unlike a pet, can understand your state of mind and react to your needs by changing his behavior.
If you desire a husband who places no obligations on you, who doesn't want you to work or change, who places no demands upon you, but is "compatible" with who you already are, then you do not want to be a wife, you want to be a pet.
In truth, sex roles are hardwired into human beings, and we are born into the unchosen obligation to fulfill those roles.
Relationships, before postmodern nihilism, worked because people understood that "husband" and "wife" are jobs, with defined roles and responsibilities. Do the proper thing, act the proper way, and your spouse will love you.
The Boomer divorce rate was 50% precisely because they rejected sex roles and sought "compatibility" instead.
If you are trying to date by seeking "compatibility", looking for a girl who shares your love of video games instead of one who is feminine and kind and keeps her apartment clean, then dating is not a progressive process that leads towards marriage.
It is a series of random dice rolls, wherein you pull a random person off the stack, chosen because she likes video games or something, then see if it works out. If not, try again at random.
The generations who shunned any and all obligations ended up the unhappiest of all, because they did not understand that happiness does not come from idleness and the absence of obligations.
It comes from the pride and satisfaction of fulfilling them.
