I look forward to the day I am seen as an OT and not just as an ‘allied’. Not only more representation across professions but perhaps support for non-medics to engage in HPE research and attend conferences is needed to address the hierarchy.

Despite Melbourne being expensive, I still managed to have some excellent meals out. One must ask - what is the value in having top chefs for the gala event if this immediately excludes people? Every South African I spoke to didn’t attend due to cost.

Many topics addressed, particularly around D, E, I, were areas South Africa is at the forefront in, and could offer excellent reflection and advise - if called upon.
