@Cynthiax18_ I really liked that you guys are using actual quotes in your multimedia! Do you plan on covering the point of view from the homeless / why and how the population is grown significantly? #CSUN375
@emilyledesmaa What is the most common difficulty for these students coming from overseas adjusting to? The cost of living / school? Cultural differences? #CSUN375
The group International Students is covering why International students decide to come to America to study at University. What attracts them to come here?
@MelJGuerrero How are you going to ensure that the story doesn't turn into peoples opinions rather than how the majority of the community actually feel about these small towns? #CSUN375
The Breakfast Club is covering small town mentality and how representation of these small towns is important because they can easily get bad representations.
@mickie_journal @DalJaMeRo Like was asked in class, how did you get such a successful engagement rate with your survey / how did you guys decide who to interview? Was there a clear set of quotes from students that made you say,"wow we need to interview them." #CSUN375
@caitlinherdez how long did it take for you to build in this new style guide to your work? You said its little / simple changes that you build in. The reason I ask because I feel like this is so important to make sure we are not insulting / offending anyone. #CSUN375
I think that it is a really smart thing to do in today's society to update things that were made before this huge shift in what is ok to say and what is not ok to say. For example, the style guide is no longer using the word "riot" and they are being more cautious and talking
about suicide, gender, race, and other sensitive / important topics. I really liked when Caitlin said "We wanted to create a space where things were allowed. We asked ourselves what is our audience using, what is our community using, and how can we open this up?"
"When you read headlines like ""Covid Crisis At the Boarder"" that is portraying a story that is incorrect." @Ms_AnabelM explained how headlines can manipulate readers into thinking the story is something that it isn't.
Join the conversation! I will be live tweeting our visit with @Ms_AnabelM from @UNITEDWEDREAM . Discussing the power of media, the spread of misinformation and disinformation, and much more. #CSUN375
A lot of the stories we hear about immigration are mostly all negative! We always hear that immigrants take jobs from Americans, bring crime, taking up resources, as well as they are the reason covid cases are rising. These are all dominant narratives. #CSUN375@Ms_AnabelM
This is so important. Misinformation and disinformation is spread so easily especially living in the digital age. Social media users are very quick to share information before fact checking just because someone else shared it! It is so important to check your sources. #CSUN375
Reporting on something as sensitive and controversial as a covid crisis and migrants crossing the border being accused of the issue, how do keep yourself from stereotyping republican representatives and keeping your story unbiased? #CSUN375 @JoseAlonsoMunoz @Ms_AnabelM
The COVID surge in Texas is largely driven by unvaccinated Americans โ but there's growing concern the migrant crisis may be complicating the issue.
@cbsmireya got exclusive access to one temporary emergency shelter, set up to test and treat migrants who have COVID.
It truly blew my mind when Cindy was called beautiful and was being complimented and then Dayana was told that she is โlucky youโre smart.โ That is truly disgusting to hear.
@theCindyCarcamo What was it like being separated from your sister for such a period of time? Especially understanding what was going on. Also, in regards to my comments on what was said to Dayana about being lucky she is smart. How often do you think people are automatically
