Israel is breaking the laws of humanity, engaged in a cycle of escalating aggression and impunity. This learned behaviour is modeled after settler-colonial states like Canada. I am the daughter of a Coast Salish woman whose ancestors survived the brutality of genocide and colonial erasure by taking their survival into their own hands, protecting and caring for one another. Indigenous resistance is more than a tradition: it is an obligation.
I am joining the Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s Women’s boat to Gaza, part of a global effort to break the siege on Gaza NOW. Our boat is named the Hind Rajab, honouring a beautiful little Palestinian girl killed while pleading for help to come. We will come.
We are all women, and all healthcare providers. We are lawful, peaceful, and humanitarian.
My mothers farewell words to me: “Your ancestors are sea-bearing people. You have nothing to be afraid of. The ocean knows you and will protect you. Whatever happens, you will be guided.”
Free Palestine.

When you're at the grocery store checking for "Product of Canada" labels, remember that most of our domestic fruits and vegetables are grown and harvested by migrant farmworkers from Mexico, Jamaica, and the Eastern Caribbean.
Produced in Canada under a system of laws that benefits the multibillion-dollar agriculture industry at the expense of the migrant workers who sustain it.
Produced in Canada by migrant workers who pay into EI but are denied access to regular EI benefits.
Produced in Canada by migrant workers who, in Ontario, are denied the right to join a union.
Produced in Canada by migrant workers who are regarded by the state as good enough to work, but never good enough to stay – no matter how many years of service they put in.
Canada's history of systemic racism and exploitation in agriculture exposes the falsehood of the claim that "we are all in this together." Class consciousness demands more than exercises of purchasing power in difficult times. It demands solidarity with workers in our collective struggle for economic justice and liberation.
Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya is an incredible physician, wonderful family man, and friend.
Despite threats against his life, he stayed to care for patients.
Due to Israel attacks, he has 6 pieces of Shrapnel in his thigh, which have damaged his major blood vessels. A vascular surgeon is desperately needed to enter Gaza to provide support, for both him and dozens of other critically injured patients.
If you are a vascular surgeon capable and ready to go to Gaza, PM me ASAP. Thank you
“This is purely and simply a collective punishment imposed on Palestinians in Gaza, who must choose between being forcibly displaced from the North or killed. We fear that this will not stop.”https://t.co/371rRWUAPb
Long🧵 about my good friend Dr. Hammam Alloh, killed by #Israel in November 2023.
I first met Hammam in 2015: He was a brilliant young doctor in #Gaza, when I was on my annual visit to teach at the Islamic University of Gaza.
We chatted about his children.

Given the shocking announcement of forced closures of supervised consumption sites & needle and syringe distribution programs in Ontario yesterday, here is a thread of what was announced by Minister Jones, with most details pulled from her remarks at AMO https://t.co/SZR3AD4vrJ
New and exclusive from me: Moss Park safe consumption site is not on the Ford government's hit list - but still might be forced to close https://t.co/CjclOHvHrz via @torontostar
It is with mixed feelings that I receive the Young Leaders Award from @CMA_Docs. I am appreciative of this recognition. I am grateful to my nominators, which include mentors and learners. To be nominated in the first place by these wonderful people has meant the world to me. /1
There is overwhelming support for a regularization program from the health and medical community
@JustinTrudeau@MarcMillerVM
Regularization would mean access to universal healthcare for thousands of people. It would mean healthier families & healthier communities. #StatusForAll
“The choice over what happens to our bodies and the ability to give birth safely and keep our babies safe should not be a privilege. Regularizing undocumented people is part of standing for fairness, for safety, and for equality.” Our Acting Executive Director @chabot_fred
My client George Anthony Lindo, along with his family—which includes potential Paris 2024 Olympian Tamarri Lindo—are expected to be deported next week, facing death
They are running out of time. If you are upset just like me, contact your MP

JUST IN ➡️ @SylviaJonesMPP claims care for undocumented migrants are covered but Josue's story proves that it's not true. He was charged $90k life-saving care at @HRHealth_

#BREAKING - A young undocumented man living in #onpoli went into a coma, needed emergency leg amputation and was billed almost $90,000 by @HRHealth_ for hospital care! @fordnation@SylviaJonesMPP no one should have to pay for life-saving healthcare. https://t.co/pnFUWzRW2y
“If there is an attack on Rafah, we just don't know where to put the patients. There is no place for the patients to go.”
Léo Cans, our head of mission in #Gaza, says any attack on Rafah would be catastrophic and describes the conditions for people in the southern Gaza town.
Denying healthcare to people living or working in Ontario because of their immigration status can be a death sentence.
Dr. Alissa Tedesco is a palliative care doctor who sees migrant patients with serious illnesses, such as cancer, which could have been cured or even prevented if patients had access to healthcare sooner.
Everyone deserves to live and die in dignity. We need #Healthcare4All and #StatusForAll.
