"How do you get through? Sometimes you don't survive whole, you just survive in part. But the grandeur of life is that attempt. It's not about that solution. It is about being as fearless as one can, and behaving as beautifully as one can, under completely impossible circumstances."

I strongly agree with this. Many people end up scared of emotions (and scared of their kids' emotions) because they've internalized that feelings are like weather: beyond our control, something we just have to endure
One of the most powerful things you can do as a parent is to reject that frame.
Emotions are fleeting and easily changed.
With older kids, emotional validation is often a silver bullet.
With young kids, it's even easier. (This old video of my son makes my laugh every time.)

The ego will manipulate your fears and external conditions to create the exact circumstances it needs to confirm the fears.
Paradoxically, this is how the ego feels safe.
The fear is confirmed as real, thus validating the wounded part, thus cementing it and preventing change, which would mean ego death.
The ego would rather have you continue suffering than risk its own dissolution.
And you can’t force it to stop, or manipulate it into changing. You have to seduce it by opening your heart to it, seeing it, and allowing every manifestation of it.
Buddha was just an inner Casanova.
Therapy isn't curing somebody of something; it is a means of helping a person explore himself, his life, his consciousness. My purpose as a therapist is to find out what it means to be human.

"Memory is a form of fiction, and we can’t help that. So we are very much the creation of the stories we tell ourselves. And we don’t know we’re telling stories."~James Hillman, We've Had One Hundred Years of Psychotherapy and the World is Getting Worse
But sometimes regret is information. It shows us where our actions didn’t align with who we want to be.
If the question is, “How do I stop feeling bad about what happened?”
The answer lies in this: *What is this regret asking me to do differently now?*
