What are some ideas that (a) seem incredibly obvious when you consider them, but (b) have extremely radical political consequences if you actually believe them and take them seriously?
I'll start: "housing is a human right".
A few notes:
-I am sure many (republican) members of Congress are quite happy now and thanking the court for doing their job.
-This strikes down IEEPA tariffs. This is roughly 70% of current tariff revenue. Other tariffs remain in place.
-This will be a hit to Treasury, but it will have a relatively minor effect on the finances of the federal government.
-Trump can (and probably will) use other existing authority to replace lost tariffs, but it will take time to get there.
-It doesn't look like majority opinion really deals with the issue of refunds. Refunds might be tough to administer and, economically, will be a windfall for companies to the extent those taxes were passed on to consumers/workers.
Today’s 6-3 ruling by the Supreme Court is a Victory for the American People and a Win for the Separation of Powers enshrined in the Constitution of the United States.
In Learning Resources, Inc. v. Trump, our Supreme Court has reaffirmed that the Constitution grants Congress - not the President - the power to tax.
American families and American businesses pay American tariffs - not foreign countries. With this decision, American families and businesses can breathe a sigh of relief.
I’m proud of the work our organization @AmericanFreedom has done on this case through our robust amicus brief program to advance economic freedom and defend the Constitution.
With this historic decision, America can now return to the pursuit of Free Trade with Free Nations under the Constitution of the United States!🇺🇸
in general if you're a parent who is concerned with your child's autonomy and exploration and sense of wonder, please remember that literacy is a huge boost to children's autonomy and exploration and sense of wonder
As family formation plummets to a record low, and as our elderly become wealthier than any elderly in history, we should stop transferring so much wealth from 20- and 30-somethings to the elderly.
End Total Luxury Boomer Communism.
Written English has barely changed in 300 years. If you can read Harry Potter, you can read Robinson Crusoe (1719).
The Spelling of our Tongue was in the main ſettled ere the eighteenth Century, & the Grammar has ſuffer'd but little Alteration ſince. Yet before this happy Settlement, things were exceeding ſtrange.
In Shakeſpeares dayes, ſpelling was much more variable, & you ſhall finde notable differences in the grammar: "thou" could bee intimate or inſulting, depending vpon whom you ſayd it to; to chooſe amiſse had conſequences.

The craziest part of this report is that she didn't even need to give up her license. Once she finishes her probation for killing four people with her Mercedes, she'll be 83 and legally allowed to drive again.
If you invented the concept of the zoo today, you'd obviously have cows. At the time they didn't include farm animals because everyone saw farm animals all the time. Today we don't. But, we inherited the idea of which animals are Zoo Animals.
Everything works like this.
This sentiment from the First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California is dangerous and wrong.
Responsible public voices should be awaiting a full investigation, not making generalizations and demonizing law-abiding citizens.
The accounts of massacre in Iran is beyond horrifying.
A friend spoke to a number of people in Isfahan who said they could hear people dying in the alleyways. One witnessed blood stains all over the city’s streets and walls. “The situation is far far worse than what we see in limited videos.”
The No Funds for NATO Invasion Act would:
- Prohibit any federal funds from being made available for the invasion of a NATO member state or any territory protected by Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty.
- Prohibit any officer or employee of the United States from taking any action to execute an invasion of a NATO member state or any territory protected by Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty.

Abolish ICE.
What we’ve seen recently isn’t immigration enforcement; it’s state-sponsored terrorism.
They refuse to comply with the Constitution.
They assault Americans with impunity.
They hide behind masks, knowing their actions are shameful.
They should not exist.
Immigration enforcement can be done lawfully and accountably—upholding the rights of the people—but the administration has no interest in that.
They’re using the context of immigration as a pretext to sidestep constitutional limits—warrants, due process, and transparency—that protect us all from government abuses.
We need immigration enforcement that respects the Constitution, not an agency that evades it.
At no point has inclusionary zoning ever made sense to me. You're effectively putting a high tax on developers (who are essentially for growth in the first place), and then just *raffling off* the proceeds to random citizens! It's bizarre.
I think parenting has way less impact on outcomes than most people think. Mistreated kids often turn out fine.
Affecting outcomes is not why you should be good to your kids! You should be good to them because they are people, and making people suffer* is bad. It's simple.
Wait so Kristi Noem’s podium at DHS is just a straight up Nazi slogan now?
"One of ours, all of yours" was a Nazi policy made when an SS officer was killed in a Czech Village and then the Nazis killed every single resident of that village in response…..but don’t you dare call them Nazis!
This is absolutely disgusting. Listen to this Minneapolis pastor talk about how he was assaulted by ICE!
“An ICE agent literally came over to me and said, ‘what did you say?’ I said ‘I am not afraid,’ and they pointed a gun in my face. ICE put handcuffs on my hands and put me in a black SUV and then a few moments later they came back and they said, ‘are you afraid yet,’ and I said, ‘no,’ and then they said it: ‘Well you're white. You wouldn't be fun anyway.’ It was then that I knew that the staging that these ICE raids are really about fear and intimidation.”
Prof. Steve Vladeck's newsletter this morning incidentally reminds me that the TikTok ban is now almost a year old-- and has not taken effect, despite being upheld by SCOTUS and enacted by Congress.
Elon’s attempting to steal a child from its mother bc she tweeted mean things about his AI that’s making bikini deepfakes of everyone on this app
