I wrote something about how hopeful I am about the zoomers coming up and the challenges I am seeing in the generations relating to each other well. I am sure I don't do this right all the time, but it is something I am trying to commit to now.

This is potentially fatal for Burnham because it is potentially fatal for the country. Most leaders are wise enough to pretend they care more about their country’s defence than buying votes, but Burnham has the political naïvety not to pretend. This line will haunt him.
You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after many to pervert justice. You shall not show partiality to a poor man in his dispute.
Exodus 23.2-3.
George Horne’s commentary on the Psalms is a delight to read and deserves to be much better-known.
Horne gives a Christ-centred reading of each Psalm that is grounded in the original meaning of the text. This is my go-to commentary when preparing to teach the Psalms.
lots of doctrines aren’t fully explicated in the New Testament b/c they’re so thoroughly explained in the Old Testament
like the duties of magistrates
and the inclusion of kids in the covenant
Most churches changed/dropped almost everything, potentially indefinitely, on the idea that they could save lives by not meeting, by wearing masks, by taking or even promoting a jab of unknown long-term effects.
Why do we not respond with anything like the same energy to this?
‘When Ancient Love looked first on sinners, how ugly and black did the Lord see and foresee us to be? But Christ loved us, not according to what we were, but to what Grace and Love was to make us; and that was fair and spotless.’
Samuel Rutherford, Christ Dying and Drawing Sinners to Himselfe, 138.
The mad reaction of many crank academic leftists to the Arday scandal - plagiarism is fine, it was racist to expose his lies, let's muzzle the press - is of a piece with their research: they see their work purely as a political weapon with zero interest in truth or standards
Apart from Jesus, there is no forgiveness. Life if hopeless.
BUT…
‘If You, LORD, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
But there is forgiveness with You,
That You may be feared.’
Ps 130:3-4
This is a great example of the anti-American racism/snobbery that is sadly so prevalent in UK Church, coupled with a demonstration of the inability or unwillingness to think critically/biblically about public life that makes such a superiority complex all the more unjustifiable.
Delighted to have an abridged version of my master's dissertation published in the Reformation & Renaissance Review.

'Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.'
