EXCLUSIVE🚨: Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope has been using his time away from the pitch to become a FULLY qualified forklift driver.
Pope🗣️: “I’ve always thought the counterbalance forklift is a fascinating vehicle, so small yet incredibly powerful”
“ Most people think you get an actual licence like you would a car, you don’t, it’s just a certificate to say you have completed training”
The 34 year old is yet to feature for the club this season.
🇳🇱 So much to like about Sean Steur, isn't there? He's driving forward, taking initiative, pressing ferociously. 18 years old yet already looks like a leader in this group. #nufc
Quick thoughts - Hull slapped up. Scoreline doesn't remotely reflect the game as Newcastle should have been out of sight
Hall - A truly incredible footballer who was brilliant at both ends
Barnes - So much better. Two assists and a top all-round performance
Steur - Wow. A gem. An absolute gem of a player. Game changed when he went off
Miley - A truly excellent defensive display. At fault for the goal, but he reads the game so well. The intelligence he has is ridiculous. Don't let the error detract from that performance
Willock - Has shown flashes so far but this was like the Willock of old. A player reborn
MFP - That work rate is going to win fans over very quickly. Ran himself into the ground
Wissa - Genuinely, a good penalty, and bar that being saved, really sharp
Botman - Received a lot of stick recently. But he was rock solid today and played a few delightful passes
Eight points from a very tough start. Totally delighted. Have a class evening Toon fans. #NUFC
Well not to be today, but still one of the best weeks as a Dons supporter in a long time
Starting to look like we've got a spine in this team with Knoester, Molloy, Aremu, Ronan, Nisbet, NGW, Marshall
Fair play to Robinson, critical he keeps it up after the international break
And breathe. #nufc win 2-1 but boy oh boy did they make hard work of it in the end. Hull pressure in last 25 minutes was relentless.
But you know what? With the injuries, the lack of experience on the field at the end and the nerves around the ground that is a superb win and a big moment for Matthias Jaissle #nufc
Did enough to get the job done and in the end that’s all that really matters.
Willock with the stand out performance in my view.
I do think there is an absence of leadership on the pitch tho which will need addressing at some point. #NUFC
Got the win, but that second half was just as bad at the Bournemouth and Leeds first halves for me. Game management awful, but fair play, not many expected a win today and the lads delivered. #nufc
Had to sell our best players, replaced them with untested players with potential, and yet we sit above Villa, Spurs and Man Utd after one defeat this season to a very good, undefeated Leeds side. Mental article #NUFC
Olusanya was superb today, helped give Aberdeen more of a threat and was a constant pest all day.
Mouloua (astonishing penalty aside) also brings something to the side.
Aberdeen totally deserved to get a winner in extra time but if I was a Killie fan I’d be fucking furious.
A massive, massive win result on penalties in the end.
Dug in when we had to when down to 10 men, quality still lacking but plenty of heart shown and some fine penalties from Briedl, Mouloua and Milne to see us through.
Ya fucking beauty. Really dug in with 10 men.
Today was all about winning whatever way possible.
Hope we can build some momentum regardless of the performance today it’s a huge result!
Enjoy your Saturdays folks 🍺
Motherwell and St Mirren fans both displayed banners yesterday calling for a £25 cap on away tickets.
An away ticket for Rangers v Motherwell was £39 and for St Mirren v Celtic was £37.
Too many supporters being priced out of the game.
It's time for clubs to listen to fans!
JAISSLE. Incredible week. Incredible job so far. Every excuse available to him for a slow start to the season. He wasn’t having any of it.
Dream away performance following on from last weekend. Get him two more through the door pls
These KK words, featured so beautifully by @worflags are from an interview I did with him in The Times before it all fell apart in his 2nd spell at #NUFC. It sums up his attitude to life & football so perfectly. We should all be dreamers at heart.
