@admcrlsn Genuine Q: are there even enough Independents/Republicans (who are smart enough and willing to vote for someone like Reynoso) in districts like NY-07 to swing the results?
It’s very funny that they genuinely don’t seem to realize that “I hate democrats because they are useless cowards” is a supermajority position among the Dem electorate.
If your movement is so strong, why does it keep needing the Democratic Party’s ballot line, infrastructure, volunteers, donors, and voter file to win?
Apparently your apparatus isn’t strong enough to do it on its own.
Fight to make the Democratic Party better. Push it. Challenge it. But don’t use the Democratic Party as an Uber to get to office and then complain about the ride after you arrive.
If you’re on the team, be on the team.
Sometimes it's hard to keep the faith but a night like tonight makes it all worthwhile. It makes you want to join a chorus of Solidarity Forever. We will win :)
It’s actually beautiful that even in a F-tier city like Syracuse, in this country you can go to a bar to watch a random World Cup match and there will be fans of both nations cheering on their teams.
Taking out the chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus with a self-described communist 32 year old PhD student who tweeted “fuck Kamala Harris” is beyond insane. DEFCON 1 moment for the Democratic establishment.
One day I’m going to write a History of the 1990s in Law and Order episodes. I’m watching episodes from ‘94 right now and it’s so interesting how you can immediately spot the episode about the LA Riots, the episode about Tonya Harding, etc. They’re little discourse time capsules.
I think climate doomerism is kind of an unexamined background premise of a lot of zoomer culture; nobody really wants to talk about it because it’s so horrifically bleak and there’s no money to be made writing articles about it so we talk more about iPhones and dating apps.
Wonder if this is a generational thing because literally everyone I know - friends from HS, friends from grad school, all wildly different backgrounds - have expressed this concern when we talk about having kids.
Horrible news. Met Prof. Wood once on campus and he was very kind. Radicalism of the American Revolution was I think the first history book I read on my own and really helped me fall in love with reading about American history. Learned a great deal from his books. Rest in Peace.
Well this sucks. Gordon Wood hit and killed by a motorist. Famed historian who was, among other things, shouted out by Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting.

Mysterious ‘cold blob’ in the Atlantic suggests the AMOC is weakening
A patch of ocean south-east of Greenland is the only place on Earth that is cooling, and it could be a sign that the warm water “conveyor belt” in the Atlantic is slowing down

Reporter: Do you think it's time for baseball to have a salary cap?
Trump: Don’t they sort of have one?
Reporter: It's a luxury tax threshold, but the teams that have the money are willing to spend it.
Trump: You don't have a salary cap, you don't have a sport… I know so much about sports.
