This morning, with all the excitement around Christmas, I can't help but think about the anticipation and the stress that Joseph and Mary must have felt as their expected baby was close to birth.

I'm the father of three sons. You may have seen two of our boys, Guy and Sam, on the campaign trail. But, we lost our middle child, Mack, before he had the chance to take his first breath. The pain of that loss is something I carry with me everyday, but I know he is waiting for us in heaven.

God sent his only son to live a perfect life, die a cruel death, and be brought to life again for the redemption of our sins and an eternal home in heaven. [John 3:16] The birth of our savior is the meaning of all this wonderful celebration.

I thank God for the greatest gift in the history of mankind that will allow us all to meet our Lord and savior and be reunited with those who have gone on before us.
