With a new year comes new beginnings I am first of all grateful to God. I also take this opportunity to thank the President of Kenya @WilliamsRuto for the opportunity to serve this nation as Secretary State Functions. I am indebted to The First Lady @MamaRachelRuto
🇰🇪 H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto arrives in Kigali with a message the continent has been waiting for.
🔙 Just days ago in Nairobi, co-hosting the Africa Forward Summit alongside President Emmanuel Macron, Kenya's Head of State drew a line under decades of donor logic and called for something far more ambitious: an Africa that finances Africa. He pointed to over 4 trillion dollars in long-term domestic savings already sitting on the continent, including more than 1 trillion in pension and insurance assets and over 500 billion dollars in central bank reserves, and asked the only question that matters. Why are these resources still waiting for someone else's permission to build the continent?
💡 His answer is structural. Through Kenya's National Infrastructure Fund, already capitalised at around 1 billion dollars, he is testing a model designed to crowd private capital into the corridors, ports, energy systems and digital backbones that will turn the AfCFTA from protocol into market. The thesis is unambiguous: "Africa cannot trade effectively with itself while its economies remain disconnected."
🌍 In Kigali, that same conviction lands at the heart of the Africa CEO Forum 2026 conversation, where pan-African ownership, green industrialisation and the mobilisation of domestic capital are no longer side debates but the main stage. From the Silicon Savannah he has helped engineer to the climate finance reform he has pushed through every multilateral forum that will listen, President Ruto embodies a generation of African leadership that has stopped asking and started building.
🎯 His presence on the presidential panel sets the tone for two days that will define how the continent moves from 4 trillion dollars in potential to 4 trillion dollars in motion.

On Monday, 2nd February 2026, H.E. President @WilliamsRuto will preside over the NYOTA Business Start-Up Capital Disbursement in Kisumu, bringing together beneficiaries from Kisumu, Homa Bay and Siaya counties.
The initiative is one of several targeted interventions under the Youth Empowerment Agenda, aligned with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), designed to unlock enterprise, create jobs and strengthen youth-led participation in local economies.
The 200-metre Galana–Kulalu Bridge linking Kilifi and Tana River counties is now 90% complete, with works ongoing on the bridge deck and an average of 120 workers on site, underscoring its role in local job creation.
Once complete, the bridge will provide a direct and efficient link between the Galana–Kulalu Food Security Project and the Malindi–Sala Gate Road, easing the movement of farm inputs and produce.
Crossing the Galana River, the bridge is a critical component of the revitalised Galana–Kulalu food security initiative, eliminating long detours previously made via the Baricho bridge and significantly reducing transport bottlenecks.
The project mirrors the role of the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration, which has been instrumental in coordinating implementation, providing security oversight and, much like the bridge itself, linking communities to government services, opportunity and national development. #DeliveringThePlan @InteriorKE 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝘀: https://t.co/OoZuzuswNj

The construction of the Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County, a modern 10,000-seater sports facility, commenced in June 2025 and is steadily progressing.
The terraces, VIP lounge, internal access roads, pedestrian walkways and VIP roofing have already been completed, with grass weeding, grading and leveling currently underway.
The roofing of the terraces remains the final major work before completion.
This project reaffirms the government's continued investment in sports infrastructure, coming on the heels of Kenya's successful co-hosting of the CHAN 2024 finals and in line with preparations for the upcoming AFCON 2027, which Kenya will also co-host.
The stadium has already been designated as the official venue for this year's Mashujaa Day celebrations in October, cementing its place as a national landmark.
Beyond sports, Ithookwe Stadium is already creating jobs during its construction phase, while its completion will open new opportunities in sports tourism, hospitality and trade, thereby boosting the regional economy and revenue streams.
