@trentconsultant Chasing targets or more likely not cancelling patients who are waiting over 52 and 65 weeks for an operation or appointment. Impossible task for hospitals as harm +++ is being done to patients waiting along time for elective care.
@drmattuk@guardian@TheDA_UK The guardian as i understand spent a day at the trust shadowing many of the doctors and PAs there. I know it doesn't fit your narrative but perhaps there is learning from a place doing it well
@iDrSunny @GMCharlatan @RoyLilley@Neal94G I don't believe PAs are there for degradation and that is where we differ. We struggle with workforce. I agree that the bigger issue is about NTNs and pay etc but that isnt happening in the next 10 years. PAs appropriately supervised and ANPs can really help.
@GMCharlatan @RoyLilley@Neal94G There's a national endoscopy training programme for nurse endoscopists and PAs also this year. There are 50 plus PAs who have achieved this.
Do you see any role for PAs? And just so we're clear it's a waste of money to train a PA to be your scribe.
@GMCharlatan @RoyLilley@Neal94G So your happy to have an imt gastroscope you over a PA who has international JAG accreditation? I support training for all. I also recognise that this drivel is not by people who work with PAs and trainees. We all want to make it better for all.
@RoyLilley @GMCharlatan @Neal94G Definitely a doctor last time I checked! Work in a hospital with PAs and surpise surprise our junior doctors have no issues but are scared to speak out due to the Online abuse. PAs have been around forever and the BMA pursuing there propaganda.
@Neal94G@RoyLilley It's a completely unvalidated survey with members being able to submit as many times as they like. It's also front loaded. We trained in clinical research, this wouldn't make the s*n let alone anything else
@BMA_James_Steen@ShaunLintern@OUHospitals Striking in the first week of January is to have massive impact. We get through to Tuesday. What's your next move? The govt won't budge so the only ppl being affected are the poor patients.
@BMA_James_Steen@ShaunLintern@OUHospitals Completely respect the right to strike. Organisations are asking for derogation as they deem it is unsafe. We asked for Emergency medicine cover overnight and to get additional doctors we have to show we've cancelled all P2/P3. Urgent patients.
@BMA_James_Steen@ShaunLintern@OUHospitals Hi James. Why should they be cancelling patients waiting for 18 months? Or those waiting urgent appointments. The bullying from the BMA is awful
The decision for people to strike in the first week of January is a huge mistake and the JDs have lost any goodwill they had from consultants. Hospitals unsafe.
.@NHSEngland & Trusts have always claimed neutrality.
To hear @NHSE_Danny bending over backwards to defend the govt’s ludicrous policy of not talking to us with strikes scheduled marks a shift to hostility.
Are @NHSEngland & Trusts now formally and publicly siding with Govt? 🤔
