In an era where football is increasingly dominated by those with the most money, Hearts pulling this off would be the greatest underdog story in modern football.

Next: St Johnstone. This is a great template for a title winning squad build. Core minutes to peak players, most of him are under contract. Win now and keep your assets. Can also see the recruitment strategy - buy main player from division rivals if he’s peak age
Incredibly proud of two of our Samford University Sports Industry Program students — Sterling Nabours IV and Ben West.
For the past year, Ben and Sterling have been embedded as analytics support for St Johnstone FC in Scotland’s Championship Division. This wasn’t a class project with a neat deadline — this was real, sustained work. Weekly Zoom calls with the coaching staff. Scouting analytics. Recruitment strategy. Player performance analysis. Hundreds of hours of work contributed to a professional football club operating thousands of miles away.
Today, St Johnstone won the league. And our students were part of that journey.
They watched the match live from Birmingham, Alabama, and celebrated a championship they helped build — a reminder that in 2026, geography is no barrier to impact in the sports industry.
In a few weeks, a team of SIP students will travel to Perth, Scotland, to present a new consulting project to the club in person — continuing a partnership that exemplifies what the Sports Industry Program Samford University Brock School of Business is all about: real work, for real teams, with real consequences.
There are 1,000 ways to work in sports. Ben and Sterling found theirs from 4,000 miles away.
🚨Jubilant St Johnstone players gatecrash the Sportscene studio.
The Perth side clinched the Scottish Championship and promotion back to the Premiership after a 2-0 win over Dunfermline.

The departures of Scott Brown from Ayr Utd and Alan Maybury from Stirling Albion in the last week took the number of managerial departures in the SPFL this season to 17.
Here's how they all rank now.
If you're playing in the P&B 500 managers need to leave before the last regular league game of the season in that division to count in this seasons total. So there.

If there is going to be a success story of a Scottish youngster going down south, I would put good money on it being this guy. 📈
He was named as one of the captains of Arsenal’s U18 squad within a few months of joining last year.
Really hope he can get some chances to play in the first-team in some capacity. 🙏
Tempting fate and assuming our business today is done, but think this is how the squad sits after the deadline
Mikulic injury makes us light in CB and similar in CM too? ways of making do i guess + budget maybe best spent on match winners? Have plenty of them now
A good window
I'm indebted to The Secret Saint for a heads up on the St Johnstone 2024/25 accounts.
