Such a great thread about school refusal not being a behavioral problem of the child, but as a symptom of a problem at the school, one with possible solutions that are respectful of the child.
As a clinical psychologist, I'm often asked what to do about school refusal. By which adults usually mean, how can we get the children to go to school and stop protesting? Here's why our kids need us to think differently. 1/
@JaysonElliot It’s so annoying when you’ve got a valid complaint about something and then someone offers advice, but I have ordered a cup of hot water and used that to warm the butter up.
@goinblankagain One of my favorites too. I think I saw them 11 times in total. I also saw this tour at UIC pavilion. Amazing to see them there. What huge influence DM has had in my life, and so it’s such sad news for sure.
@morri85 That’s really the worst. Institutions of all sorts have now proven that accommodation works and there is literally no reason to take access away. I won’t be surprised if this is the norm, but it’s really too bad, a missed opportunity.
