So happy to see the @WBEZ covered the suffrage mural series I'm co-producing. First 3 in Chicago. Next cities will be NYC & Portland, OR. So important to uplift the women who made it possible for us to #vote.

Black-owned bookstores in the U.S. now have their own directory for the first time ever, launched by the nonprofit National Association of Black Bookstores — who found that:
• There are 306 Black-owned bookstores nationwide (8% of independent bookstores)
• 14 states have no Black-owned bookstore
• Nearly 90% report annual revenue at under $250,000
• Sales of books by Black authors declined by 14%, despite an increase in overall print sales

@HigherHeights Thanks for uplifting my article! It really is time for others besides Black folks to get out of their comfort zone & fight for opportunities they enjoy that WE fought for.
Ida B. Wells was a fearless investigative journalist who exposed the brutal truth about lynching through her newspaper, Free Speech. In 1892, a white mob destroyed her office and threatened her life. She fled Memphis but never stopped. Wells became a powerful voice against racial violence, proving journalism is a weapon for justice. Her courage helped lay the foundation for the civil rights movement. Her pen was POWER.
A new Colorado law is set to change how students learn about Black history — and it’s no longer just assigned to the shortest month of the year. In House Bill 25-1149, every public school from kindergarten to the 12th grade in the state is required to integrate a comprehensive Black history and cultural studies plan into their curriculum by 2028. And that plan must be for the entire school year. https://t.co/OQGP2UTwBl
🚨 ICYMI: Illinois is joining the World Health Organization's coordinated network, GOARN, to protect the people of this state.
We will continue to put science, preparedness, and people first. Period.
To all those who are apologizing for their vote that has brought an onslaught of chaos & violence: We don't want your "I'm sorry" without action to fix it! #ActionsOverWords
I kicked off Black History Month in Corona at the home of Louis Armstrong, who lived in our city for more than 30 years. Walking through his house and hearing how much New York meant to him was a powerful reminder of what this city owes to Black artists and culture. At a time when Black history is being erased, places like the Louis Armstrong House matter more than ever. That’s why I’m proud to partner with @ArmstrongHouse to offer free admission to all visitors on Saturday, February 7th.
Learn about the history of the US thru the story of my great-grandmother #IdaBWells who lived thru & wrote about lynching, race massacres, segregation, & rollback in voting rights. It happened and we won't forget #BHM2026
Richard Hunt was the most prolific sculptor of our time with over 160 public art pieces. His last creation will be at the @ObamaFoundation. Let's honor him with a mural by @chris_devins_ this spring.
