Highly reccomend taking 15 mins to find out more about the Reflection & Action Learning Forum, funded by The Promise Partnership.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has” (Margaret Mead)
A wintry view of the single track road east from remote Achiltibuie, north-west of Ullapool. The prominent peaky mountain is Stac Pollaidh whose character is out of all proportion to its mere 613m or 2,009ft in height. More pics and info: https://t.co/uRYGFX2vof
If you have (or have ever had) a little one who looks at you like this, you have much to be thankful for indeed.
Now let me tell you what your baby can’t quite yet: Your baby is thankful for YOU.
Whether you’re a parent, a grandparent, an early childhood educator… anyone who shows love and attention to infants is doing them a great service: helping to lay the foundation for their success.
Success in their relationships.
Success in school.
Success in life.
It’s hard work. But it’s also life changing.
So for your love and care…
For your undivided attention…
For your words…
For your smiles…
For your protection…
For your sacrifices…
Thanks to all who play a role in nurturing young children. Happy Thanksgiving.

Creativity’s Neural Origin Revealed
Researchers have uncovered how the brain's default mode network (DMN) collaborates with other regions to produce creative thought.
Using advanced brain imaging, they observed that the DMN activates first during creative tasks, followed by synchronization with areas involved in problem-solving and decision-making.
This discovery shows that the DMN plays a crucial role in initiating and evaluating creative ideas.
These findings could lead to new interventions to enhance creativity and treat mental health disorders linked to the DMN.

The crimes are monstrous, but they aren't committed by monsters. Ordinary men, brought up in our communities, schooled in what manhood means by the messages of masculinity preached in our society, take those lessons to deadly conclusions every day, woman after woman.

There's lots of guidance for leaders on "listening with empathy". This research-based article says much of it (based on the idea of "walking in others shoes") is problematic. "Walking in shoes" gives us a clear picture of how we would feel if we were the other person but not how they actually feel. Researchers call this "perspective-taking". Instead, we should stop treating empathy as a solo sport & engage in "perspective-getting" - empathising collaboratively. Every conversation is a joint project, done best when we make space to learn from one another: https://t.co/1ozSZiB167. By @zakijam
