This is awkward, apparently the people in charge
of the Government of Canada website (Ministers, Secretaries of State, and Parliamentary Secretaries) forgot to post the name of the Minister of Disabilities and the Secretary of State for Disabilities.
Considering that 27% of Canadians have one or more disabilities, with even higher rates within Indigenous communities, this oversight is a little embarrassing.
Please get the site updated ASAP, with the names of the Minister and Secretary of State for Disabilities. The longer you delay this, people will start to believe that no Minister, or Secretary of State for Disabilities were appointed, which of course, considering the number of Canadians with disabilities and the barriers they face, would never happen.
A giant "fuck you" to all the Liberals who were insisting to disabled folks that Carney would add a Minister of Disability Inclusion "after the election."
He made the same decision he did in his last cabinet.
He wants to "meet the moment" and that "moment" is eugenics-filled.
Congratulations PM @MarkJCarney on your first post-election Cabinet. However, we’re deeply disappointed by your decision to exclude the position of Minister of Disability Inclusion. It sends a clear message to 8 million + people with disabilities across Canada. We must do better.
Cabinet has Ministers for Families, Indigenous Relations, Veterans, and Women and Gender Equality. Also Secretaries of State for Children and Youth, Labour, Seniors, and Sport. People with disabilities? No seat at the table. Hugely important and disappointing in 2025
18.9% of population are seniors.
There is a Secretary of State for Seniors.
27% of the population are disabled.
There is no Minister or Secretary of State for disabled people.
There is a Minister of Artificial Intelligence.
Robots count, we don't.
Those that want Poilievre elected, want him elected because they think it would make their own lives better.
Those that want Carney elected, want him elected because they want to make other people's lives better.
Are you a "me" person, or a "we" person?
Canada now has same-day MAiD and it's not easy-to-read about. Thanks to Ontario's death review committee for doing this work @TrudoLemmens

They were struggling so much with health care systems and services failing in every direction. RIP my kind, beautiful friend. I’ll be cheering for your team for you this weekend against my partner’s 💚
Sweet @philaheather was a dear friend for over a decade. We would check in on one another when we lost other community members, it’s always so rough on all of us, esp lately. Im so grateful to have known her sass + willingness to call people out on their shit even when it’s hard.
Healthcare workers…If your patient is wearing a mask you should too.
When you ask “do you want me to wear a mask?” You’re putting undue burden on your patient
You’re refusing to acknowledge the imbalance of power that makes us feel uncomfortable saying “yes”
Just wear a mask
The reality is: our community is quickly dying. Between MAID policies that devalue our lives +lack of COVID protocols that endanger us, I don’t know how many more friends I will lose. These networks are vital to sense of community we can cling to + sharing of medical knowledge. 3
The “just leave meta/x” isn’t straightforward for disabled people. Long-existing digital spaces are lifelines. FB has 20k of us w SMA in one space despite geographical, political, and medical barriers. Crowdsourcing medical experiences saves lives for people with rare diseases. 1
It’s horrible an individual’s beliefs can cause global spaces to become unsafe. Just please remember disabled people can’t all make value-based decisions easily out of literal need for community health safety nets. We don’t care less about harmful rhetoric, we can’t just leave. 2
Do you know a wheelchair user who works in a lab who'd be willing to user-test our prototype of what is believed to be the first-ever lab coat adapted for wheelchair users?
