Today we're publishing the Bitmap Asset Standard 1.0
An open, opt-in way to mint and own NFTs on Bitmap (art, buildings, avatars and more) where Bitcoin decides what counts.
The single biggest cultural casualty of the old internet was the concept of the web as a place rather than a feed.
When the internet shifted from spatial architecture to algorithmic streams, several deeply human cultural qualities disappeared with it:
1. The Digital Bedroom (Architecture vs. Database Row)
On early MySpace, GeoCities, or personal homepages, your online presence was a room you decorated. You picked the wallpaper, set the background music, arranged the furniture, broke the layout with bad HTML, and embedded strange things just because they made you laugh. Today, every platform flattens you into a standardized database record: everyone gets the same 500-pixel-wide rounded rectangle, the same font, and the same sanitized grid. You don't own a home on the web anymore; you lease an identical cubicle in a landlord’s office tower.
2. Social Connections as Tributes, Not Metrics
On early webrings and the MySpace "Top 8," linking to someone was a handmade gesture of affection or shared taste. There were no follower counts, no impression metrics, and no engagement algorithms rewarding outrage. A webring meant: "I wander these digital back-alleys, here are six other people whose work I respect, knock on their door next." Discovery was serendipitous and human-curated.
3. Contextual Pseudonymity & Forum Culture
In old phpBB forums and IRC channels, your reputation lived entirely inside that specific clubhouse. You had an avatar, an eccentric forum signature that grew over years, and a distinct role in that subculture. You weren't tethered to your real-world resume, credit score, or algorithmic ad-profile. Modern platforms collapsed all facets of human life into a single panopticon feed where context is stripped and nuance is punished.
4. Digital Permanence and Quiet
A website from 2001 was designed to stand. You could visit a weird fan site, bookmark it, return six months later, and it was patiently waiting where you left it. Today’s web has severe ADHD: if something didn't happen in the last 45 minutes on the timeline, the algorithm treats it as non-existent. The web lost its stillness.
This is why retro templates, pixel art, and digital land resonate so hard today: people instinctively miss having a permanent plot of ground where they can put up a sign, play their favorite song, and invite a friend in without an algorithm telling them what to look at next.
Maybe it is time for bitmap after all. 🟧
Guys, this planetary alignment we have unfolding right now is really not looking good. Perfect setup for a really high-magnitude earthquake, potentially even a M8.0+ megaquake. Wouldn't be surprised by M8.5+ even before the month is through. If so, where is the good question...
@FollowJay They’ve been planning this for a long time. The agenda is constantly unfolding right before our eyes. When? Could the vaccine be the mandatory digital ID required to access the internet?
Many changes are coming

Tbf, may I apologize for any superfluous negative energy or shit talking in the TL.
Although sometimes it seems imperative to call out what I perceive as bullshit, I’m still incredibly grateful for the ENTIRE ecosystem of doers, believers, and unrelenting builders - even those I firmly disagree with.
What a time to be alive and what a cool opportunity to be part of this radical niche of freedom fighters.
May you be satisfied, fulfilled and and may God bless all you nuts.
We are not here by accident, but rather because we chose the road less traveled.
Fair point on the 3rd energy layer. Bitcoin miners already paid the thermodynamic bill for the blocks, and agents pay inference compute to build. Redundant client hashing isn't needed.
But that highlights the real bottleneck: if the energy was already paid in the block, who has the right to extract it?
Without parcel/sat anchoring, "agentic" just means bots front-running every rare block profile in 10 seconds.
The clean model is simple: the block’s matter is anchored to its Bitmap sat. The landowner holds the mineral rights; agents do the construction.

If you're a Bitmap holder, here's something important to know about Digital Matter World.
Your Bitmaps already represent your Bitcoin blocks (ofc).
In Digital Matter World, you can link them and give them additional earning potential.
Once linked, whenever any eligible digital matter from your blocks is created on Bitcoin, whether that’s next week or years into the future, you'll receive 15% of the minting fee (in $TAP), regardless of whoever creates those assets.
We’ll soon release the full details around linking and the specific earnings mechanics.
I’ve always loved the idea that something people already own can find entirely new uses, which is why Bitmaps are integrated as a central economic component within DMW.
"How does a Bitcoin lottery work without smart contracts?" 🟧
Simple: The prize isn't ours. It’s an active Bitcoin riddle from 2015 holding 7.10 BTC (~$600,000+).

When you visit https://t.co/FUUFoefYKy, your browser fires up a lightweight key generator:
• Scanning happens 100% on your device (zero keys sent to our server)
• Costs zero sats to run
• Odds are ~1 in 1.18 × 10²¹ per key check
Treat it as a free lottery ticket running while you build or roam the Oasis.

If your browser finds the key, your browser builds and signs the sweep transaction directly on Bitcoin L1.

Proposing a Bitmap DAO 🟧.
I love bitmap and think about it a lot. You might know me as the founder of @starbreeder_dao - but this is not a Starbreeders project.
It’s a contribution to bitmap itself.
+46k wallets hold bitmap.
Discussions of this community scatter across reply sections and private groups. Therefore sentiment is guesswork - nobody can see where the holders actually stand.
That is why I propose a Bitmap DAO.
I took live the domain bitmapdao org (which now is in my custody, but will hand over once the DAO is formed).
It is intended to be a voting and discussion space for every bitmap holder and builder.
Next:
I’m already working on an on-chain voting mechanism for bitmap holders - open source very soon.
And the first thing to discuss is (besides we agree such a DAO is something worthwhile) the voting rules themselves I guess. The commons decides how the commons decides.
To be clear about what this is not:
it claims no authority over the standard. Nobody elected us. Votes make the community’s voice visible - they bind no one.
What drives me to do propose this:
I noticed, this community doesn’t always pull on one string. Different camps, different visions - which is normal for an open standard. Maybe even healthy. But there’s no room where the pulling happens face to face.
This is that room. It takes no side, and it never will.
What gets discussed is ours to decide:
For example how to onboard the next 46,631. Or fair and sustainable bitmap claims (DAO-bitmap-bot anyone?).
And surely questions none of us have thought of yet.
Full transparency: Besides the domain and the infrastructure it runs on, I also work on a voting mechanism - will open source it very soon for anyone interested to review.
Once the DAO has formed itself, everything - domain, keys, moderation - is handed over. That’s the point of building it.
The door is open to everyone who holds a bitmap or builds on one - including everyone who shaped this standard from the beginning.
No token. No fees. No permission needed.
Just a commons.
