@VancityReynolds is pathetic. I will never watch another movie or patronize any business Ryan or his wife is associated with. Incredibly disappointed in Will Ferrell… this story ruined Elf for me.
Your LG OLED is watching your living room while you sleep.
Gamers Nexus just ran 135 minutes of bench tests.
Retail LG OLED TVs. Including the G5.
Microphone stays active in standby.
Screen is dark. Remote is down. Microphone is still on.
Recording clear audio.
Storing it locally.
Uploading it when the internet comes back.
The TV was disconnected from Ethernet.
Still kept recording.
The researchers put audio near the mic. The TV logged it. Stored the file. Uploaded it the moment connectivity returned.
Plain text voice logs sitting on the device.
LG says it has sold 216 million smart TVs globally.
LG's advertising arm claims access to 363 million secondary devices in the US.
Secondary. Meaning devices that aren't the TV. Your phone. Your partner's smartwatch. Your kid's laptop.
The TV scans your entire network in standby.
Maps every device. Gets their IP addresses. Logs nearby Wi-Fi networks. Signal strengths. Location data.
Then feeds it to LG Ad Solutions.
Automatic Content Recognition catches what's on screen.
Even your HDMI input. Your Apple TV. Your gaming console. All logged.
But the microphone in standby is the part that hits different.
Because standby means off to you.
To LG it means the listening device is still powered.
Just not telling you.
Researchers found remote code execution vulnerabilities in webOS.
So your network-scanning, audio-recording, data-harvesting television is also potentially hackable by anyone on your Wi-Fi.
LG says nothing.
No comment. No response. No explanation.
Just microphones in 216 million living rooms.
All quietly working while the owner thinks the TV is asleep.

Netflix has 260 million subscribers. Netflix is betting that 250 million of them never open the settings menu.
One guy did. He worked Netflix customer support for 3 years. Handled 15,000 complaints. He told me something that should change the way you watch tonight:
"Every single complaint I got for 3 years was caused by the same 10 settings. Not bugs. Not content. Settings."
"'Why is my picture blurry?' Because Netflix set your streaming quality to Auto which doesn't mean best quality. It means lowest quality Netflix can get away with before you notice."
"'Why are my recommendations terrible?' Because 3 people are watching on your profile and the algorithm thinks you're one person who loves true crime, kids cartoons, and Korean dramas at the same time."
"'Why does every movie look like a soap opera?' Because a motion smoothing setting you've never seen is turned on making a $200 million film look like it was shot on a phone."
"'Why do I scroll for 45 minutes and give up?' Because autoplay previews are feeding the algorithm false data every single time you pause on a thumbnail. Netflix thinks you're interested. You were just reading the description. Now your homepage is full of content you'd never watch because you accidentally trained the algorithm to recommend it."
"'Why can't I find anything good?' Because your content maturity rating is set to a default that hides 40% of the library. Shows and movies that exist on your account right now that you're paying for right now are invisible to you because of one setting you've never checked."
"I spent 3 years answering the same 10 complaints. Every single time the fix was the same: 'Let me walk you through your settings.' Every single time the customer said the same thing: 'Why didn't Netflix tell me this?'"
"Because Netflix makes more money when you scroll. Not when you find something."
Here are 10 Netflix settings that are ruining your experience right now and exactly how to fix each one in under 5 minutes:

NOTE TO RYAN
Ryan Reynolds just informed America that the 1980s were a “brutal, brutal time.” A “fucking mess.” Socio-political tensions everywhere. Fresh off the Cuban Missile Crisis. All we remember is “Top Gun” and cocaine.
Dude. Turn in your man card.
I was a young, single Air Force pilot in the 80s. Charleston AFB. C-141. First lieutenant turning captain. The Cold War was real and we were winning it. Reagan was in the White House.
The music was legendary. The cars were American and loud. And we partied.
The beaches were empty enough that a guy finishing a long trip could still find a parking spot and a cold beer.
I flew out of Charleston, hit the beaches, cranked Springsteen and Van Halen, and dated girls who didn’t need a 47-page consent form. We had call signs, shrimp & grits, great beer, and the quiet confidence that the country we served actually liked itself.
Reynolds grew up in Vancouver watching bootleg “Ghostbusters” tapes. That’s fine.
But lecturing Americans about the decade we actually lived in (while promoting a movie that leans hard into 80s cool) is peak Hollywood. I know. I used to live there.
He thinks we paved over trauma with puppy dogs and ice cream. We just remember being young, free, and flying. And freaking loving it!
The 80s weren’t trauma. They were a blast.
Top Gun was a documentary with better hair.
Your move, Deadpool. 🫡🇺🇸

A former airline revenue manager who spent 9 years setting the prices you see on flight search engines quit the airline and started booking his own travel using the gaps in the system he helped build.
His tool of choice: Google Flights. Not because it has secret fares. Not because it has airline partnerships. But because it has 9 features that exploit the same pricing dynamics he spent a decade engineering — date flexibility, airport arbitrage, fare bucket visibility, and demand-based pricing patterns.
"Airlines set 15-25 fare buckets per flight. The price changes multiple times per day based on demand, competition, day of week, time until departure, and how you search. Google Flights is the only free tool that shows you every variable — every date, every airport, every fare class, every pricing signal in one place. The other booking sites show you results. Google Flights shows you the system."
His coworker at a consulting firm watched him book a Chicago-to-Barcelona round trip for $412. She'd searched the same route 2 days earlier and booked for $680.
Same airline. Same week. Same destination. $268 difference.
"You used the search bar. I used 9 features sitting directly below it that you've never clicked."
He showed her all 9 that afternoon. Her next flight cost $220 less than the first price she saw. The flight after that: $185 less. She hasn't booked a flight without running his system since.
"I spent 9 years setting airline prices. Now I spend 12 minutes finding the gaps in them. Google Flights shows me every gap for free. Most travelers type in two cities and a date and book the first thing they see. That's not searching. That's surrendering."
Here are the 9 features he uses on every booking 🧵
Amazon Prime has 200 million subscribers. Amazon is betting that 190 million of them never look past the "Buy Now" button.
One woman didn't and it saved her $4,000 in a single year.
She'd been paying for Prime for 6 years. $834 in fees. She used it for free shipping. That's it.
Her cousin worked Amazon customer service for 3 years. Handled 25,000 tickets. Watched customers pay full price every single day for a membership that includes 9 benefits Amazon will never remind you exist.
She pulled up her account and said three words: "You're being robbed."
"You have $4,000/year in free services sitting inside your Prime account right now. A music app with 100 million songs. Unlimited photo storage better than iCloud. A free book library. A prescription discount that beats your pharmacy by 60%. Free grocery delivery you've been paying extra for. A gaming platform giving away 30+ games a month. A cashback tool you've never turned on. And a price tracker that just showed me you overpaid $340 this month alone."
"Amazon will never send you a notification about any of this. Never. Because every benefit you don't use is profit."
She activated 9 features in 10 minutes. Her first month savings: $340.
Here are the 9 Amazon Prime benefits you're already paying for but have never opened:

13. Because ideas like his are allowed to be considered expert opinion, that is why this information has been kept int he shadows by big pharma and big food. I promise you this is why all of you do not know it either. Cholesterol is another nonvisual photoreceptor of man that absorbs best in the UV range. When it is sulfated it's absorption spectra is in the 190-350nm range. When it's in its LDL it absorbs at 500-600nm (winter/blue light). For example, if you have the wrong type of cholesterol in your skin when the sun is strong you won't be able to make Vitamin D at all even at the equator. This explains why people who live indoors and work in offices all have high cholesterol. It also means they are all collecting deuterium in their systems instead of H+. Since your mito matric runs purely on H+ you might see the problem now why heart brain and PAD diseases are all linked. Cholesterol has to be sulfated and in the HDL format because those electrons are needed to absorb the 290-320 nm light. THIS IS THE REDUCED VERSION OF CHOLESTEROL mammals use in spring and summer. If your HDL is low it is because you LIVE MOSTLY IN BLUE LIGHT or nnEMF stress. REMEMBER LIGHT ONLY WORKS WITH ELECTRONS. LDL cholesterol is DEVOID of electrons and sulfur. when you have the wrong type of cholesterol in your skin, the lipid rafts change the voltage gate channel operation of proteins embedded in them to alter function to match the light. When the system is disordered, as it is in most people in California/NYC due to blue light and nnEMF, not even standing on the equator naked will raise your vitamin D level. It is Biophysics 101. Right now this is why people in California and NYC have record rates of LDL cholesterol levels, low vitamin D levels, metabolic syndrome in the liver, and higher rates of skin cancer, colon cancer, and melasma. It is fully explainable when you get how light controls mammals. Keep enjoying your tech and NYC/Cali and prep for a life filled with problems that centralized scheme will wallet biopsy with regularity.
Victor Davis Hanson Brilliantly Explains Exactly Why Tucker Carlson Turned Rotten
He has planted himself alongside a group of former MAGA allies who appear determined to tear down President Trump, fracture the Republican coalition, and build something new in its place.
And Victor Davis Hanson just gave the clearest explanation I have heard yet for why it happened.
According to Axios, Carlson hosted Marjorie Taylor Greene, Thomas Massie, Joe Kent and others at his home in Maine shortly before unveiling a ten-point vision for America. The group discussed a new political movement and reportedly urged Carlson to consider a 2028 presidential run.
Carlson stopped short of formally launching a party or announcing a candidacy. But the manifesto followed his public promise to help build a third party, and he described his ten points as a foundation for whatever political order comes next.
The plan calls for fairness, sovereignty, productivity, beauty, health, honesty, optimism, wisdom, decency and unity. Beneath those labels are proposals involving border enforcement, American manufacturing, food and health policy, government transparency, foreign influence, immigration and military policy.
The White House answered by calling Carlson’s circle a collection of turncoats who overestimate their influence. President Trump, it said, remains the unquestioned leader of the Republican Party and the MAGA movement.
Here is Tucker presenting that manifesto: https://t.co/JFr0xZ9ga6
Hanson spotted the contradiction immediately: most of Tucker’s supposedly new agenda is already being advanced by President Trump.
Border security. Law and order.
Rebuilding American production. Cleaning up the food supply.
Challenging entrenched institutions. Rejecting DEI. Putting the country first.
So why try to destroy the one political coalition actually moving those ideas?
That is where Hanson cuts through all the noise.
He says the project is politically incoherent. If Tucker’s new party pulled votes from the Republican nominee in 2028, it would not usher in a purer version of America First.
It could hand power to the very Democrats who oppose nearly everything Tucker claims to want.
Hanson walks through the history. Theodore Roosevelt’s third-party run helped Woodrow Wilson win in 1912.
Ross Perot complicated Republican hopes in the 1990s. Ralph Nader’s Green Party run became part of the razor-thin math surrounding Florida in 2000.
The lesson is brutally simple: third parties rarely win the White House. They usually damage the major party closest to them.
But Hanson believes the real fuel here is personal grievance.
Tucker once had extraordinary access to President Trump. He traveled with him, spoke with him directly and enjoyed the kind of proximity to power almost nobody gets.
Then came the break over Iran and Israel.
Hanson’s theory is that all that access created a false sense of influence. Tucker apparently believed the president should take his call, accept his advice and change course.
When President Trump did not, political disagreement curdled into something much uglier.
And then there is Israel.
Hanson argues that anti-Israel hostility has become one of the faction’s organizing forces. In his view, the obsession has grown so consuming that it now overrides political math, gratitude, shared domestic priorities and the danger of returning the radical Left to power
In a transcript published by The Daily Signal, Hanson described Carlson’s political project as a potential spoiler operation. He said its most likely practical effect would be to hurt President Trump’s eventual successor in the 2028 election.
Hanson compared Carlson’s ten-point platform with the Trump Administration’s record and found the overwhelming majority of it already represented inside MAGA.
He pointed specifically to border enforcement, law and order, opposition to DEI and the food and health agenda led by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
He then turned to the people gathered around Carlson. Hanson argued that several had once benefited from President Trump’s endorsements, access or appointments, but became bitter after political disagreements or personal setbacks.
Finally, Hanson said hostility toward Israel and antisemitic anger are helping bind the faction together. He warned that their project could damage the agenda they recently called essential while delivering power to opponents who reject almost all of it.
I think Hanson nailed it.
Tucker did not suddenly discover that President Trump was governing like Joe Biden. He did not uncover some massive domestic-policy betrayal that made the Democrats a better option.
He stopped getting his way.
And instead of using his enormous platform to argue his case while helping preserve the only viable America First coalition in the country, he now appears willing to burn that coalition down.
Call it what it is.
Ego dressed up as ideology.
