I’m a racecourse bookmaker for over 36 years, we were represented at Epsom yesterday, I spoke at SMART BASH this year and in particular I mentioned the potentially “catastrophic” repercussions of trying to “correct minor wrongs”..
I really didn’t expect my prediction to come to fruition so soon…. I’m sure during your podcast you will unwrap the “onion like” layers of this monumentally ridiculous decision. But the point I wish to make is that the biggest failure is communication… the BHA HEAD OF STEWARDING stated that they were alerted “IMMEDIATELY after the start”… all it would need is that a button is pressed, a light goes on in the commentators box (like old days at the dogs) and he can alert the public and bookmakers DURING THE RACE, that there will be a review… 99% of all ill feeling could be headed off at the pass if they just COMMUNICATED EFFECTIVELY !!!
