As someone with a family history of alzheimer's, you would think I would be delighted with the talk of exciting new drug for its treatment. Unfortunately, on further investigation, it turns out it is nothing more than a pharma advertising campaign dressed up as news. Now I'm no
Another example of Fianna Fáil’s disconnect from the people.
The Minister celebrates the fact that the claimed 3.2 billion bottles and cans have been recycled through the Deposit Return Scheme, stating this proves the public have 'embraced' it.
No, it proves people have no choice but to use it if they want their deposit back.
People have repeatedly raised concerns about the inconvenience, the queues, the machines, rejected containers and the extra burden placed on households. The carbon footprint of all the collection trucks, running & maintaining the machines etc..
Calling this 'public enthusiasm' is completely out of touch.
@fiannafailparty needs to stop congratulating itself for making life more difficult for ordinary people.
The Minister declares when asked about the inappropriate illegal reading materials in schools that it is essential that parents exercise their parental rights regarding the adjudication of what their children do and do not read.
However, the Minister's department also supports organizations such as BelongTo, who encourage teachers to lie to parents about these matters.
So, which is it? Parental involvement or excluding parents through encouraging teachers to lie to parents about their children's education?
To pursue both policies is contradictory.
This is a question that should be put to the Minister at the next press conference.
The absolute state of this.
We did not "fail to redeem" or "leave behind €60mil".
This scheme was foisted upon us.
Its a humiliation ritual for busy families.
It has caused chaos for local councils.
DCC now spends €600k+ to clean up Bin Raids.
What about the scheme's failed bid to get an exemption from paying VAT in unclaimed bottles? How they paid a Fine Gael councillor to lobby a Fine Gael Minister.
Re-Turn spends about €6million a year on advertising and PR.
What about the fact that bin collections now cost more?
Its a complete and utter scam.
Shut it down.
The hypocrisy here is shocking
I know parents across the country who’ve raised issues with both schools and the Department of Education over books and gender ideology. They’re repeatedly dismissed or ignored.
Yet when questioned about books on the reading list containing inappropriate sexual content, Norma Foley suddenly says it’s a matter for parents.
Which is it?
Are parents the decision makers when it comes to what their children are exposed to, or are they to be dismissed when they object?
You can’t claim parents have a choice while your department approves the curriculum and parents repeatedly say their concerns are being brushed aside.
Then, when Ben continues to ask perfectly reasonable questions, she walks away.
Irish politicians have developed a disgusting habit of treating scrutiny as an inconvenience. If you can’t defend your decisions, you shouldn’t be making them.
We need to stop electing numpties who think walking away is an acceptable substitute for answering questions.
One day someone in government or MSM will have the balls to call out mass immigration into Ireland as the biggest money making, human trafficking scam of our lifetime
Until then, we’ll just have to thank @Nick_Delehanty for his Trojan work again
This is exactly why more and more gays want nothing to do with the alphabet soup that now speaks over us.
An Islamist drives a van into a Pride parade, killing someone and injuring dozens, and at the vigil an activist is more distressed that the attacker was not a white Christian than by the fact gays were deliberately targeted.
The narrative must be protected at all costs. German authorities are treating the attack as Islamist terrorism.
It is the same cognitive dissonance every single time.
Gays are attacked by Islamists, but queer activists panic about “Islamophobia.”
Gay kids who do not conform to stereotypes are encouraged to question whether they were born in the wrong body, but the same activists insist they are fighting conversion therapy.
Women object to males entering their sports, prisons and changing rooms, and somehow the invader becomes the victim.
Gays who no longer recognise a movement supposedly representing us, are told to shut up by these same people who’d rather protect those who want to kill us than the victims of extremism.
They do not care about gays as people. They care about us as characters in a political story. The second reality interferes with that story, they play the victim.
You cannot build a movement around denying what we can all see right in front of us.
I'm old enough to remember when everybody was MAGA.
Bill Clinton 1993: "We have to end welfare as a way of life and make it a path to independence and dignity."
Barack Obama 2005: "We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected undocumented unchecked and go around our communities without our knowledge of them."
Hillary Clinton 2008: "If they've committed a crime deport them. No questions asked. They're gone."
Chuck Schumer 2009: "Illegal immigration is wrong plain and simple."
Joe Biden 2006: "I voted for a fence. I voted for 700 miles of fence."
Harry Reid 1993: "No sane country would grant citizenship to children of illegal immigrants."
Bernie Sanders 2015: "Open borders is a Koch brothers proposal that would make everybody in America poorer."
The Secure Fence Act of 2006 had yes votes from Obama, Hillary, Schumer and Biden.
Don't you dare allow them to gaslight you into thinking your values are racist and radical. These used to be mainstream Democrat positions.
They only changed their minds once their party decided to use illegals to steal power from the American people.
TUV leader Jim Allister thinks the justice system in the 26 counties has collapsed after a woman (25) caught transporting a fully assembled 2kg semtex bomb, and charged with explosive offences, facing up to 14 years in prison, and with a suspicious history in militarised basketcase Syria, is released on bail despite Garda objections. Jim isn't the only one scratching their noggin.
But our justice system has collapsed, because ~100 prisoners are likely to be released this week (and go on to claim compo) for being jailed without legal representation because of the solicitors' strike.
And it has collapsed because net prisoner numbers have dropped sharply by ~150 in the past few weeks with judges not prepared to jail convicted criminals who don't have legal representation.
The bailed (alleged) bomber is the tip of the iceberg Jim.
Jim O'Callaghan has destroyed our prison system with prisoner numbers up 800 since he came to office, but claims to have added 250 new bedspaces since Jan 2025 (20 are 1-person modular units costing €600,000 apiece in existing prison grounds, 26 are an extension to Dochas/Mountjoy Female but nearly all the rest are bunkbeds shoved into single cells). Mattresses are up nearly 150%. Our prisons are inhumane and dangerously overcrowded and any sense of rehabilitation has been largely lost.
Jim has destroyed our asylum system allowing a backlog of 21,000 appeals build up at the International Protection Appeals Tribunal which can never be cleared. Despite the early morning Tweets and the Garda video footage, deportations are at the same level as during Helen McEntee rule and declining. Jim is now evicting 1000's of succesful asylum applicants from State-run accommodation to fend for themselves in the private rental market where they compete with everyone else.
All of the above should have been sufficient for Jim to lose his job, but it will probably be the sight of scores of prisoners walking out of Cloverhill this week that may focus terminal attention on his incompetence.
This story should impress upon us the seriousness of a number of issues.
Firstly, it does not surprise me that the individual in this case is a young, educated woman. We talk a lot about the radicalisation of young men, but relatively little about the radicalisation of young women; an increasingly prevalent issue specifically with respect to movements that are perceived as ‘social justice’ oriented.
Secondly, while we shouldn’t assume influential factors, many of us have warned for quite some time now that the normalisation of Hamas terrorism would contribute to a normalisation of dissident Irish Republican terrorism. Our media class has consciously sanitised terrorism abroad for three years now, did they really not consider that this would sanitise terrorism at home? The hubris is astounding.
The Good Friday Agreement was painstakingly fought for and it truly depresses me to see this. I am concerned for the future of my country.
Reality Denied
Elon Musk’s interview with The Economist exposed a political absurdity: basic common sense now sounds radical because the elite progressive left has spent years treating reality as a nuisance rather than a guide. Secure borders, safe streets, fiscal restraint, and institutional competence are not fringe positions. They are the minimum requirements of a serious society.
That is why the debate has become so warped. Too much of the progressive left now operates in a post-factual universe, where ideology is treated as evidence and evidence is treated as negotiable. In that environment, ordinary standards of order and accountability are recast as oppression, while failure is excused with slogans.
The same argument would be celebrated as wisdom if Obama made it and denounced as extremism when Trump does.
The result is a public discourse detached from consequences. If you point out that uncontrolled migration strains public services, that crime affects working families first, or that governments cannot borrow and spend forever, you are no longer making a practical argument. You are accused of hostility, ignorance, or worse.
Musk’s real value in this conversation is not that he is universally right. Which he is. It is that he forces the confrontation between reality and rhetoric. And once that confrontation happens, the weakness of the left’s worldview becomes obvious: it can explain feelings, but it cannot reliably explain facts.
The middle of the political spectrum has not become more extreme. The left has simply moved so far from reality that common sense now looks like rebellion.
Simon Harris told the media that there is no "magic money" available for the Irish people in the forthcoming budgets.
Yet since 2022 Ireland has given in excess of 550 million to Ukraine in conjunction with spending billions on taking Ukrainian refugees.
At what point do we tell them that the well has run dry ?
#HowIrelandWorks
The Government has commissioned a dystopian instruction manual which takes the war on misinformation to the next level.
The 136-page report classifies "anti-LGBTQ+ narratives" as one of several types of "false and misleading information" said to be circulating in Britain. Other categories identified alongside it include "electoral fraud claims" and attempts at the "institutional delegitimisation" of the European Union, while a further category on immigration covers "false claims about migrant entitlements, misrepresentation of the demographic composition of migrant arrivals, and the misattribution of criminal acts to migrant communities."
This means that anyone who observes, for example, that the Olympic gold medallist boxer Imane Khelif is male has, on the Government's own evidence review, committed an act of anti-democratic extremism deserving of suppression.
Naturally, the opportunity to blame X's algorithms has not been missed either.
The Shadow Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Alex Burghart MP, has denounced the report, accusing the Labour Government of ushering in an Orwellian thought police under the guise of tackling misinformation.m
At the same time, Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy is trying to force social media platforms to prioritise the promotion of "trustworthy" public broadcasters, among them the BBC, ITV, and Channel 4.
The Free Speech Union will continue to scrutinise the Government's approach to "misinformation" and to make the case that the cure being proposed is very often more dangerous than the disease.

Ireland’s Childcare Crisis
A few facts:
Between 2020 and 2025, more than €8 billion was allocated to the Department of Children.
Most of this money went towards migrant hotels that operate at 50%+ profit margin.
Companies linked to Séamus “Banty” McEnaney and his family have reportedly received more than €300million.
Since 2016, Ireland’s last three Ministers for Children have not had children themselves.
The Govt promised to reduce full-time childcare fees to approximately €200 per month. Delivering that commitment is estimated to require an additional €300 to €500 million per year.
Ireland currently allocates approximately:
€1.5 billion a year to childcare
Which is half the amount, €3 billion, they allocate to asylum, refugee and Ukrainian-related accommodation and supports
Normal people have no idea how badly our finances are being run.
Seen that opinion poll in which millionaires say they're in favour of a wealth tax on millionaires?
It's an absolute masterclass in how to get the polling result that you want. And the detail shows the opposite of what we're told it shows.
Thread:
This is NOT a political issue & shouldn't be made into one. It's physics & human anatomy. Sophie Cunningham is correct.
A thread/example 🧵:
The fastest woman in history is Florence Griffith-Joyner, fabulously known as Flo-Jo 🏃🏾♀️ 💅
Her world record in the 100 meter dash is an astonishing 10.49 seconds. This record has stood completely untouched for decades & still stands today 🥇
When compared to professional men, Flo-Jo's all-time historic speed is heavily outmatched by the biological & physiological realities of male sprinting mechanics.
At the professional Men's Level, Flo Jo would be UNRANKED. According to World Athletics data, over 1,900 men have run faster than Flo-Jo’s 10.49 second women's world record. Her time would fail to qualify for any standard professional or NCAA men’s track meet.
Her 10.49-second mark aligns perfectly with the elite U.S. high school boys' level.
76 high school boys ran faster than Flo-Jo's record in 2019 alone.
It's nowhere near fair to amazing women athletes that work hard their whole lives to compete against biological men.
We've just listened back to yesterday's Nolan Show (Chris Buckler standing in), which featured a discussion on Fèile an Phobail's cancellation of the @ni_wrn event. We were genuinely taken aback by the misinformed and vitriolic comments about 'the people on that panel' made by People Before Profit's Fiona Ferguson.
To be clear: Gaels For Fair Play is an all-Ireland group of grassroots Gaelic Games members campaigning for fair and safe sport for women and girls who play Gaelic football and camogie.
We are opposed to the @LadiesFootball transgender policy because iIt has been established, unequivocally, that inclusion of males in the female category cannot be balanced against safety and fairness for female players.
We know this because science, empirical evidence and basic common sense tells us so. Asking the custodians of our sport to protect the female category is not 'pumping out hatred'.
We do not wish to 'exclude' trans people from Gaelic Games.
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to participate but respectfully ask that trans-identifying males compete in the correct sex category in the interests of fairness and safety for females.
Trans-identifying females, who accept that biological diferences would make it difficult, if not impossible, for them to compete in a men's team, play in the correct sex category. Why, then, is it unthinkable that trans-identifying males would do the same?
We have repeatedly called on the GAA to foster an inclusive environment in men's Gaelic football and hurling in which trans-identifying males can feel safe, welcome and valued. This is the model of inclusion all ethical and responsible governing bodies should strive for; not a flawed version where the price of 'inclusion' is the removal of fairness and safety for women and girls.
We wonder if Fiona, as a committed feminist, might find it concerning that the LGFA will not disclose to female Gaelic footballers if a male is present on the pitch, thereby denying women the right to give informed consent about what happens to their own bodies. We hope it would also concern her to know that women who were injured after being tackled by male players chose not to raise the incident with the LGFA because they were afraid of being stigmatised.
Lastly: it's news to us that groups such as ours are 'heavily funded by right-wing groups in America' given that the placards we did up for our last protest were A4 posters sellotaped onto the back of a Cornflakes box. We are entirely self-funded and are raising this issue because we think women and girls deserve fairness, safety and dignity in our sport; it is a disgraceful slur to brand our words as 'hate speech'.

Summer Economic Statement 2026:
Just 10 Companies pay 20% of Ireland's total tax take.
The top 5% of income-tax payers pay 16% the total tax take.
So that means ~36% of our entire spend comes from one small group.
The next crash will be catastrophic...
