Everyone has the wrong theory on why Elon wants SpaceX + Tesla merged NOW. Here's mine, hot off the press: SpaceX has a massive equity unlock cliff hitting this spring. Merge the companies and that unlock goes from ~50% of SpaceX to ~30% of SpaceX+Tesla. Bigger denominator, smaller cliff, easier pill for the market to swallow. Pure supply and demand. Nobody else is saying this.
Also on this week's More or Less:
— The OpenAI PHP vulnerability is the start, not the end. The internet still runs on 20-year-old PHP nobody bothered to attack — until one line of AI code can take it all down. Your regional bank WILL be hacked. Bitcoin's survived 15 years of continuous attack; your bank's login page hasn't.
— Dave says the AI labs should BAN employees from using internal frontier models. They're so far past what users actually touch they've completely lost the plot on product. Same disease we had at early Facebook.
— The wealth tax is pure Foucault: once the state can see wealth, it taxes it. Intellectually inevitable AND a deeply un-American disaster. Both things are true.
Fight me in the replies.
@OleksandrKhomin Just based on my threads experience. I think there are more interesting people on X for the topics I’m interested in. The tech/crypto/ai/politics folks post on X first. It’s where discourse really happens worldwide
@PaulFindable ok i'll bite
it's nothing against icp as a network/tech. probably more than 99% of people talking about it never even touched it or care.
dom's take just looked lame, vague and desperate for attention. that's where the hate come from.
This is craazy. I asked one of our PhD engineers to look into NEAR *Confidential* Intents wondering how they designed their system. Unredacted, word-for-word, this was his answer 😱😱😱
"Everything I found out about the privacy claims and confidential intents is so bad that it seems almost comical and I cannot believe what I am seeing. Apparently they run a completely separate instance of the protocol, which is called FAR (as an opposite to NEAR), and that has a permissioned operator set. The entire confidentiality claim seems to rest upon the fact that it is a permissioned chain and the nodes are trusted to keep things private, there doesn't seem to be any deep technology behind it and it also does not seem to be open source. The entities running the nodes are also not publicly known.
I almost feel weird writing this because it is so absurdly bad that it feels like ... I don't know ... a simulation? I know the usual level of overpromising in Web3 but this is so many levels beyond believable that it still feels unreal."
start this week by signing up to @framesag and use up to 300 requests for free
that’s plenty for research across a wide variety of top APIs and data providers
start this week ahead of every other agent
It took me awhile to understand this and I had read that many times before. I think you need to be in the game long enough to understand that the best way to sabotage your work is to pay too much attention to what your “competitors” are doing.
I’ve seen my “competitors” pivot or die long before I could prove my thesis. So yeah, your only competitor is you because only you know what your edge is, your perspective of the world, and where you want to go.
