Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has written to the UN Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues, alleging that senior Muslim IAS and IPS officers in West Bengal were excluded from official events linked to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visits to the state because of their religion.

Moitra had raised the issue on social media a few days earlier, alleging that Muslim officers were kept away from events attended by Shah in north Bengal.

She named Siliguri Police Commissioner Waquar Raza, West Bengal Police’s Special Task Force chief Jawed Shamim and IAS officer Khalil Ahmed.

A complaint was later filed against Moitra in Diamond Harbour over her social media post. The cybercrime police subsequently summoned her for questioning.

Moitra Alleges Exclusion of Three Officers

In her letter to Prof Nicolas Levrat, the UN Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues at the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Moitra alleged that the three officers were either asked to leave or told not to attend official events on three occasions during Shah’s visits to West Bengal in July and August.

The Gauhati High Court has questioned the demolition of 73 houses in Assam’s Muslim-majority Goalpara district after residents challenged the 24-hour notices issued before the action.

Justice Devashis Baruah, hearing a petition filed by 21 residents, questioned the authorities about what “imminent danger” required such a drastic action on private land.

The residents said notices were issued on September 5, warning them to remove their houses within 24 hours. Their counsel told the court that the houses were demolished in the early hours of September 7.

Court Questions Due Process

The court said the action by the Matia Circle Officer appeared, at first sight, to be “illegal and unauthorised” and in violation of the principles of natural justice.

The judge said the residents were not given an adequate opportunity to present their case before their houses were demolished.

Even at around 3 a.m., more than a dozen concerned citizens, including activists from the Congress and Left parties, remain gathered at Delhi’s Saket Police Station in solidarity with Muslim women journalists Shaheen Khan and Nafisa Khan, who have been staging a sit-in since around 10 p.m., demanding an FIR against the police officers who allegedly assaulted them.

The journalists were allegedly subjected to Islamophobic slurs and brutal violence by Delhi Police while covering the inauguration of a new wing at Max Hospital in Saket by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday.

Slogans are being raised inside the police station, demanding an FIR against the officers involved. Both journalists continue to demand action, but the police have yet to register an FIR or provide any positive response, report @jibraan_uddin and Usama Nidal from Saket Police Station.

India's Biggest Financial Blunder: Modi Govt Sold Gold Bonds, Forgot to Buy Gold... Taxpayers Pay the Bill.

— September 11, 2026 is a big day for India's finances.

— In 2015, the government started Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGBs).

— Simple idea: People gave money to the government, got 2.5% interest and after 8 years, the government promised to pay them according to the latest gold price... TAX FREE.

— But there was one problem: The government did not buy and keep enough gold to protect itself from rising gold prices.

�� One example shows how costly this became: a 2018-19 SGB was issued at around ≈ ₹3,100 per gram. By 2026, the redemption price crossed ≈ ₹14,900 per gram.

— So the government has to return roughly 5 times the original gold-linked amount, plus 2.5% annual interest, plus Tax Free.

— Example: Assume government collected ₹35,000 crore worth of gold bonds in 2018-19.
At today's gold prices... they must pay back around ₹1.70 lakh crore.
That is nearly 5 times what they collected.

Overall Estimation:
👉 Between 2015 and 2024, Modi government collected ₹72,275 crore from people.
— Government's total liability at current gold prices... ₹1.85 lakh crore.

Extra burden on taxpayers... over ₹1 lakh crore.

Biggest reason? Government never bought actual gold with that money. They assumed prices won't rise. Scheme quietly shut down in February 2024.

2015 to 2017 — gold prices barely moved. Losses were manageable.

👉 2018/19/20 is where it all went WRONG.
Government kept issuing more and more bonds... aggressively. Gold Prices Skyrocketed After Covid.
