For more than two months, I have been working on a truly horrific story about one of the gravest war crimes committed by the United States since Vietnam: The bombing of the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, Iran. It was one of the first targets struck in the opening hours of the war on February 28, 2026.
At least 156 people were killed in the U.S. cruise missile strikes—120 of them were children and 26 were teachers. We spoke to survivors, first responders, parents, doctors, teachers, psychologists, and other witnesses. Some of them had never before shared their experiences of that day.
It would be impossible to do justice to what happened in Minab that day with words alone. In more than 25 years in journalism and reporting on war, I do not believe I have reported on a more heinous single crime.

@Y2K_mindset It seems like an event Larry David would have to like correct some prior social offense to be able to attend with some Hollywood asshole. Where the whole episode you’re like “How is going to am Ed Sheeran concert worth this much effort?”
🎥 Jeremy Scahill and Ryan Grim on AOC’s Gaza Reckoning
Ryan Grim says AOC has a credible “free shot” at the 2028 nomination, but her claim that Kamala Harris was “working tirelessly” for a ceasefire will follow her until she addresses it.
Jeremy Scahill says Gaza became a defining moral issue for young voters, yet AOC played “sheepdog” for VP Harris while Biden funded and enabled the genocide, then Democrats blamed voters of conscience for refusing to fall in line.
“There’s no question that she was not the voice of the opposition,” Grim said. Had she taken that role, she could enter 2028 with immense moral authority and be “almost unbeatable.”

🇺🇸 The House has passed the $1.1 trillion National Defense Authorization Act 216–212, with six Democrats voting yes and seven Republicans voting no. It incudes section 219 which integrates U.S. military intelligence and the defense industrial base with Israel.
The bill makes US military support for Israel easier and more institutionalized. It creates a Pentagon official tasked with accelerating U.S.-Israel military technology cooperation, including joint R&D, testing, co-production, data sharing, and moving jointly developed technology into procurement.
Separately, it extends through 2029 an existing authority allowing the U.S. to transfer weapons already stored in its War Reserve Stockpile in Israel. That authority can permit transfers without Congress voting on each shipment, with Congress only receiving notification under the underlying law.
@jakebrodes They would do this at the Christian high school I went to. They would bring in this “prophet” named Gary who was clearly just a guy in a constant state of untreated schizophrenic psychosis.
Platner should have been disqualified from running at all when he decided to join Blackwater AFTER the war crimes they committed. But crimes against Muslims are always an afterthought to American politics.
