With re-opening plans being created in all districts, we hope all districts remember the #1 reason we are not in school right now---a health pandemic. It is more important now than ever to provide instruction on physical, social, and emotional health in our schools!!!
Looking forward to 2 1/2 month inbody weigh in today at health trax in newington. They have helped me lose weight and get healthier which I hope to help many of my students do this academic year! @HealthtraxFW
A Summer Challenge---find 30 minutes each day to be truly active. This will not only improve your physical health, but will greatly positively impact your social and emotional health. Let's make it a goal that next year MHS Schools finish #1 in the state on our fitness testing!
On behalf of the entire PE/Health staff at MHS, we want to wish our amazing seniors in the Class of 2019 all the best in all of your future endeavors. It has been our privilege to get to know you and can't wait to see the incredible things all of you do in the next few decades!
Another picture of our students of all backgrounds working together and improving their fitness at the same time . This is what a transformational high school with a focus on equity and equality looks like...great job to our amazing students in both classes!
What a great morning! Our period 1 Wellness students working with our period 1 adaptive PE class....they all were dancing and have a blast while improving their cardiovascular endurance and overall fitness!!!!
Need information on the effects of club drugs? Opiods? Vaping? E-cigarettes? Ask our high school freshmen and sophomores who are completing rigorous educational programs on this topics and they can provide all the information you need.
If you haven't done so already please circle May 18th on your calendar for Middletown Unified Sports Day. The whole community is invited to take part in this truly amazing events that all of our students and many staff plus community members take part. This is true equity!
Who was the speeding bullet? Must be one of our amazing Middletown Public Schools students flying past you taking the Connecticut Physical Fitness Assessment pacer tests in school. Each year our students are reaching their own wall and fighting through it!
Early reminder to join so many of our amazing elementary students who will be participating in the unified elementary sports day at MHS on Saturday, May 18th. This is an amazing day that highlights our amazing students, staff who all are volunteering to help, and community.
A big shout out to 6 wonderful people I am currently having the privilege of re-certifying in First Aid/CPR. These individuals are here to volunteer their time today so they can volunteer their time the next few months with our unified elementary sports teams. :) :) :)
Is that the wind you are hearing or the power of our students working together in games like Speedball, Swatball, and Indoor Soccer? We have begun new units and the Target Heart Rates of most of our students are 2x higher than the speed of today's wind gusts. Great job today :)
Also, on behalf of the entire MHS PE/Health department, we send our deepest sympathies and prayers to our former department colleague Jason Serra and also to his wonderful family. Tom Serra always put our students first and we all miss him.
Our students are understanding the risks of using these products and now armed more than ever with the correct information about the long-term effects of opiods, e-cigarettes, and vaping.
Excited to report almost 1/2 of our freshmen and sophomores have received the most up-to-date information on opiods, e-cigarettes, and vaping and the rest of those students will receive this information within the next month.
One of our many incredible students celebrating the holiday season in our adaptive PE class. A huge thank you to Mrs. Ehnot for organizing this event as well as our incredible paraprofessionals and student helpers as well as our incredible adaptive PE students.
Also, on a personal note, I was extremely impressed with the tremendous work on the mini-projects and presentations in my period 1 Wellness class as my students peer taught each other First Aid and survival skills.---Coach Smernoff
With 2 weeks left in our first semester, we continue to be impressed with the effort, performance, and positive attitude of so many of our amazing students at MHS. Even with snow on the ground and a chill in the air, our students have been pushing their own limits.
