@franklincovey The solution is very simple actually. It’s #Communication. Yet, it’s seemingly very difficult to do. For example, employees and managers may not communicate enough about (too much) workload, leading to frustration on both sides when the tasks aren’t done. #Priorities
Are bad managers bad people? No they're (usually) not! They're in positions they're not suited for. They struggle to survive & succeed, resulting in poor #management of ppl. Managers need support & #coaching for #LeadershipDevelopment.

@MLConklin @thewritinghippo Agree 100%. There's a way to deliver #feedback. It doesn't need to be damaging language; it has to be development language that'll help the recipient. That's how relationships can be enhanced, and will encourage the person getting the feedback to want to do better.

@8inchBeyond Dam: "it was bad"
Dev: "it can be improved by..."
Dam: "You don't know how to..."
Dev: "How can you do this differently?"
Dam: "You should not have said that"
Dev: "Why do you feel this way?"
#feedback
@dbmoore@Microsoft@SlackHQ Agree 100%. Work check-ins and #development sessions need to be kept separate. The use of tools is secondary, but it's the commitment from the manager and employee to the process, whether it's project check-ins/wellbeing check-ins/etc. We believe it starts there.
@ChrisBufkin So many ways for a #Manager to commit workplace crimes and create toxic workplaces. From #micromanagement to talking down; not being able to take #feedback; #getting distracted when in meetings with remote employees. Yep...#employees are needy, and a pain!

@GordonTredgold Managers may not welcome #Feedback from their employees. However, of the many skills a #middlemanager must have to be successful in #Leadership , the ability to receive feedback from colleagues at various levels ranks high. It builds trust between #managers & #employees .
@tomwillfixit A caring manager is one who keeps a lookout for impending #Mentalhealth issues such as #burnout and stamps it out before it has the opportunity to take hold of the #employee . It's not just after the issue has taken place; it's also before!

@GladEDSolutions Long hours at work can contribute to #burnout , but it's far from being the only or direct cause. @WHO has declared #burnout a “syndrome conceptualized as resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed".

@PopStarLab@DrEricLevi@WHO Difficult but not impossible. Agree, managers have many boxes to check, but it's a matter of taking stock to evaluate and understand what's critically important, and what isn't. Maybe do something a little less, and instead, replace that time with meaningful 1-1 conversations.
@Susanjmccann We were just thinking about how great this would be in the management context, where managers fight for their employees and become their champions. It'd give them excitement, motivation, and something to look forward to every day!
