I told my dad, who has been living in the U.S. for several years, that I needed some food items for school. I didn’t even request money at first since my mum usually takes care of my school and personal expenses.

After our conversation, he later sent me $1500. To verify how I spent it, he asked me to send pictures of the items I bought, which I did. However, he later called and questioned whether I actually spent $1,500 on what I showed him.

I explained that prices in Nigeria are quite high and that the amount wasn’t even sufficient. After that, he became upset, blocked me on WhatsApp, and also told my mum to stop supporting me.
