By far the best I’ve ever done to this point for a March Madness bracket 👀
Sure there’s some luck involved, but this year more than any other I valued the analysis of the individual matchups. Looking at strengths of weaknesses and how each team could (or could not) exploit them
@MarchAnalysis One of the craziest things that’s ever happened to me 🤯
The importance of not only understanding the world of basketball analytics but also watching hours upon hours of college basketball and some luck (Tanner’s missed halfcourt shot) cannot be underestimated
Shoutout to my guy, Michael Walsh, 102nd in the WORLD😳. He took 4 MAJOR gambles that ALL paid off (Iowa>UF, Illinois F4, Texas S16, Tenn E8). Highest I’ve EVER seen someone. He’s in the bracket stats group chat- predicting a bracket is NOT 100% luck.
I pray I didn’t jinx him 🤞
I would like to point out that these were ALL educated and statistically backed predictions… with maybe 20% of gut feeling. We discussed all 4 gambles as very real possibilities, and Michael had the guts to actually pick them. Truly impressive work🤜

Brotha loves his Mid Majors.
@SickosCommittee what we think? he one of y’all?!‼️‼️‼️
This is something I touch on in our latest @The3Ball_ podcast episode that just came out this morning!
There has been a trend that every mid majors 11-15 seed that has pulled of a R64 upset has played a top 70 KenPom ranked team within 10 points before March
Go look at the mid-majors in the top-100 of KenPom and who they played in the non-conference.
Belmont: No P5 games
Akron: Played at Purdue
Yale: Played at Alabama
McNeese: Played at Michigan
Utah Valley: Played at Boise and SDSU
Stephen F. Austin: No P5 Games
Northern Iowa: Played at Saint Mary’s, neutral vs Tulsa (MTE)
Illinois State: played at USC & Utah State
High Point: No P5 games
Hawaii: played at Oregon, home vs Arizona State
Liberty: played at NC State
That’s 11 traditional one bid league teams in the top-100. Only one (Hawaii) played multiple P5 foes — and one was because ASU was already playing in Hawaii for an MTE.
We aren’t having a serious conversation if we aren’t acknowledging that high-major teams typically don’t want to pay and play mid-majors they can lose to. There’s no benefit to them in doing so for the most part. In turn, people get mad at the mids as a result.
Episode 4 of The3Ball Podcast is officially out on YouTube and Spotify!!

I fell in love with college basketball as a kid through watching mid majors pull off stunning upsets in March. Would then track those programs the seasons to come.
It built my love for the college game. I’ve been a mid major fan as long as I’ve been a die hard CBB fan
Super Excited for episode 3 with @AdamHarper_ and @midmajormichael
