@SleeperMets Wouldn’t Ewing be a better leadoff hitter than Benge? Don’t get me wrong, I love how Benge plays, but I think Ewing seems more patient at the plate and I bet he ends up with a higher OBP year-to-year than Benge.
@NYNJHarper It’s fantastic. And guys like this are critical because I strongly believe there will be a salary cap/floor system. Need homegrown, cheaper guys rather than the overpaid guys like Luis Robert, Semien, Polanco, etc.
@Masterflip_ It wasn’t moving on from McNeil, Nimmo, and Alonso that most rational Mets fans hated. It was who Stearns replaced them with. Luis Robert is terrible. Polanco is hurt and was never a 1B and Semien was washed last season. Why would he bounce back?
@VinnysCorner1 He's getting there but not there yet:
Hitting WAR = 37.5
Hits = 1,116
BA = .283
HR = 290
Pitching Record = 45-22, 2.76 era, 737 Ks in 589 innings
Pitching WAR = 19.1
@Ben_Yoel There is no indication that Ryan Clifford can cut his strikeout rate. It was 40% in 2022 (first year in the minors) and it is currently 40% (5th year in the minors). I don't know why Mets fans keep bringing up his name.
@SleeperMets@JeffPassan And Clay Holmes too if he is healthy. He was pitching really well and would bring back some good prospects.
No one will want Vientos and no one will want Robert. Baty may have some value.
@SleeperMets@SleeperTigers@DanBartels2 Too much uncertainty this offseason to do a deal like this. We have no idea what the cap/no cap situation will be
@SleeperMets $42M - Bichette - .218
$24M - Semien - .214
$22M - Manaea
$22M - Luis Robert
$20M - Polanco
$17M - Montas
$15M - Devin Williams
$15M - Senga
$177M is more than the payroll of 12 or 13 teams. You'd be better off replacing all of the above with rookies.
@Mets The consistency with the lineup and defensive positions is definitely helping the offense and the defense over the last 10 days or so. Now we just need Peterson to step things up to his all star level. I know he can do it.
