Do you remember when they couldn’t keep their hands off of you, but now you can’t remember the last time you shared a tender caress?
This is the most common story I hear from couples.
Here’s why it happens—and how to get the spark back. 🧵
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is at once a disorder of the totality of what is meant by personality in a psychodynamic framework ie the capacity to be alone, self-soothe, to love, to play, and more broadly self/emotion-regulation. It is also putatively a disorder of the totality of mood, anxiety, and impulse control psychopathology. 1/
This is the COOLEST psychological principle I've ever stumbled upon.
You can use it to:
• Improve Memory
• Increase Retention
• Overcome Procrastination
It's called the Zeigarnik Effect.
Here's how it works:
The Zeigarnik Effect occurs when you're interrupted in the middle of a task or you stop working on it right before completion.
Which creates an Open Cognitive Loop.
But wait... why is that a good thing?
Because your brain just CAN'T let it go.
It keeps cycling through the Open Cognitive Loop over and over and over again.
Your brain does this for two reasons:
1. So you won't forget what you were doing
2. To find a resolution to what you were doing
If you're like most people, you don't use the Zeigarnik Effect with intention.
As a result, you have hundreds of Open Cognitive Loops running in your brain at any given moment.
Which is the reason most people feel overwhelmed and easily distracted ALL THE TIME.
So, step one to improving your focus and mental clarity, is to shut down unnecessary Open Cognitive Loops.
The best way I've found to do this is by creating a Second Brain.
The Second Brain:
Simply put, this is just a place where we Brain Dump all the tasks, thoughts, and to-dos swirling through our brain.
Once our brain knows these are safely stored somewhere, it has an easier time of letting them go.
Now that you've freed up some cognitive bandwidth, it's time to redeploy the Zeigarnik Effect, but this time, with intention...
Which you do by INTENTIONALLY stopping certain activities before they reach a natural "stopping point".
For instance...
Everybody knows the hardest part of writing a book is staring at the blank page.
The solution, therefore, is to never start with a blank page.
This means never ending a writing session at the end of a chapter or a paragraph or even a sentence.
Wait... what?
Seriously...
Here's the sneaky tactic I've used to write 13 bestselling books:
Stop your daily writing session in the middle of a sentence.
This is an easy way to guarantee your brain is just gonna keep cycling through whatever you were writing about until you sit down again the next day.
And guess what?
The words are going to literally burst out of you the next day when you sit down to pick up where you left off.

I've lived with ADHD my whole life.
But after spending 1000 hrs studying top neurobiologists like Andrew Huberman & Richard J. Davidson.
Here's what I learned to improve your focus 10x:
(For those who have the attention span of a gnat.)
It took me 6 weeks to write and submit a research paper the first time.
It took me 4 weeks to do the same thing a year after.
Now, I can write a full paper in a week .
Here’s the framework I use: 🧵👇

Hey writers, AI is coming for your job.
If you don't future-proof your skillset, you'll get left behind.
These 5 resources will help you stay ahead of the curve:
Do you spend hours formatting your citations and references manually?
You can automate them with an app called Zotero.
Best part: it's FREE!
Here's how to do it:
Don't use ChatGPT for academic writing. It's not designed for academic purposes and generates fake citations.
Instead, install an AI-powered editor for academic writing inside your MS Word.
Here's how to do it:
ChatGPT creates fake citations. Bing cites sources but not journal articles. So, you can't use them for literature review.
But there's an AI-powered app that will supercharge your literature review — Inciteful.
It's FREE and integrates with Zotero.
Here's how to set it up:
If I had to start over today?
Here’s what I’d do:
• Spend 2 hrs/day learning a high-income skill
