@warshick Yes because everything feels like it’s on fire or could be. More worried about people being careless and starting something new vs spread from existing but better safe than sorry 🤷♀️
@Greg_Beau Don’t get me wrong, binge drinking is problematic. I’m not arguing that. But students are going to party. Give them a more appropriate venue to do it in. Schools don’t want the liability, let the bars take it back on.
What if…we brought back dollar drinks? Kids are going to drink and party. And they’re going to do it where it’s cheap. At least downtown is set up to service that kind of behaviour—late night eats, fewer residents, lots of people out and about, etc.
@cr8tiveCandy Right but…what I’m saying is downtown is a more appropriate venue. (Also, to be clear, drinking culture is super problematic but also, uni students are going to party. Always have, always will)
@KimSenklip 💯 I recently read somewhere that “perfectionism is the refusal to let yourself move ahead” and I think it’s the same kind of thing. The words are there, it’s the fear of what happens when they are down that prevents the work from moving forward.
@a__money When I was a surely pre-teen and cellphones were a new thing, my father pranked me and my BFF by pretending to “answer a call” from Patrick one day in the car. He recited the entire commercial. A+ dadding memory.
@kforbesy I feel like I’ve read something like that but can’t find it for the life of me. There is this book though: https://t.co/GdqsvVyAP1. Might have been an excerpt or something I’m thinking of.
@Cove17 I considered that tree ‘mine’ for the five years I lived with it in my backyard. I’ve had many wonderful times sitting beneath it. I hate how it met its end. But I love how everybody in this thread is sharing their disappointment in its treatment.
