Being “a little uncomfortable” does not cut it for the impact of the messaging her and her candidates stood behind. It is a blatant reminder that settler-colonialism is present, and the minimization of Indigenous women’s lives is ongoing.
Does Heather Stefanson not acknowledge her role in leading her OWN party, and therefore the party’s messaging? Not to mention the hardline she and her party decide to take that nonetheless perpetuated the dehumanizing of MMIWG.
Departing premier Heather Stefanson is apologizing for election ads promoting her decision to not search the Prairie Green landfill and says she was "a little uncomfortable" with the combative tone of her party's unsuccessful re-election campaign #mbpoli https://t.co/8Xm8Q41xJz
Another great episode by Steve and John Michael! I’m glad that my email was mentioned in this week’s episode, where I highlighted the Frost Centre of Canadian and Indigenous Studies at @TrentUniversity is indeed named after Trent’s first Chancellor and former Premier Leslie Frost
It was so lovely to meet @maritstiles in Peterborough this evening. Such a kind and inspiring person that I’m so grateful to have at the helm of our party.
"Joy, I'm not going to apologize for being a male - I'm sorry, I was born this way," says @Haacke to @lalalalachica. Haacke says it's "infuriating" and he takes exception to the comment.
My deepest gratitude to this country and to Mary Simon @GGCanada to be honoured among such an inspirational group of Canadians as an Officer of the Order of Canada. So proud and humbled.
@jm_mcgrath Michelle was elected in 2018 with the second-most votes for a city councillor and is pretty well liked. She’s young and francophone which most likely served to her benefit. Plus she ran a really strong campaign compared to her opponents!
Also, a big congratulations to @MurrayForWard5 on her re-election! Thank you for all that you’ve done with your time on Council and as Mayor. You’ve made me extremely proud to be from Timmins, and I continue to be inspired with the equitable vision you bring to the city!
Exciting news! Congratulations to @MicheBoileau who was elected as Mayor of my hometown of Timmins tonight. For the first time in our city’s history, we’ll have two women serving back-to-back in the Mayors seat!
Let’s do this! I’m running to lead Ontario’s NDP, so we can kick out Ford’s Conservatives and start
delivering more for working people – more opportunity, more equity, more access, more hope. #onpoli
