@value_invest12 Really does sound like a « value »investor who got his overvalued / low rates inflated bunch of stocks kicked ass ytd by the FED trying to blame someone for going to swim naked 🙁
@Keubiko Well everyone that owns this apart maybe from some of the ETFs probably knows it...likely why the stock trades at a USD30bn+ discount to what it would ex PFAS
@SlingshotCap I agree with that...but now check out what happens when you add 1% to your growth rate keeping the same margin in your DCF and then increase the discount rate by 1%...
@elite_investor Zug is not really a village and is not really nice...if you retire and have assets (rather than income) you definitely don't go to Zug...
@CitronResearch Completely unfair market reaction...indiscriminate selling even for names with no growth 😠😡😠. Need @CitronResearch and all the meme crew to pump harder 🥵🥵🥵 not to get that one down to Book Value !! 😩😩😩
@ecommerceshares@AltaFoxCapital I think this is very true for the US...much less for other parts of the world where funds were not able to ride the hyper growth companies trends last year and dive with it this year.
@AltaFoxCapital Has reduced the focus from fundamental to marketing analyst type of research + efforts for gender equality (necessary for banks...but extremely pronounced in ER a rare attractive area) has reduced meritocracy in ER in both recruitment and promotion process = lower quality
@AltaFoxCapital Agree with all but I think that point about Equity Research is absolutely key...in the US young talents have shifted to tech and PE, in Europe MIFID has slashed the profit pool making a career in research not attractive...both sides of the Atlantic the focus on volumes/flows...
@Maxim_Bogomaz @ArsalaanAli6 They all struggle with the African ops while all succeed with their Asian ops...I think it is extremely difficult to succeed there and I doubt that a bunch of ex-strategy guys based in Europe with 0 experience on Africa can succeed...happy to hear counterarguments though !
@Maxim_Bogomaz @ArsalaanAli6 As Bezos always said you need to have a strong infrastructure to have a successful logistics business...this is not the case in Africa + Income level / inequality higher than elsewhere + give me 1 foreign company which has succeeded in Africa...look at Nestle, Unilever, DG...
1/ What might you want to take away from today's Berkshire meeting?
Focus on the way they think about the investing process. You are not them.
You have a different circle of competence and different resources, needs and goals.
How they think about investing is what matters.
