German long-range weapons and satellite technology to destroy Russian launchers—new Russian threats against Germany are expected today.

„Friedrich Merz has arrived in Kyiv for the first time since May 2025. German media describe the Chancellor's current trip as the most dangerous since the war began; in recent months, Russia has intensified attacks on Kyiv and on passenger trains.

Berlin is providing Ukraine with €1.35 billion for weapons and energy.

The new aid package includes €1 billion for military equipment and €350 million for energy security.

❗️As DW learned from government sources, the package includes—among other things—long-range weapons, combat drones, and satellite technology designed to enable Ukraine to destroy Russian launchers more effectively.

A key component of the package—which Chancellor Friedrich Merz is scheduled to announce on October 4—is funding for the joint production of drones designed to counter jet aircraft.

As the DW sources noted, this is not one-sided aid: Kyiv is prepared to purchase military equipment from Germany in return. At the same time, German companies will have the opportunity to benefit from the combat experience Ukraine has gained.

The funds earmarked for infrastructure and energy supply are to be used for the procurement of generators and substations, as well as repair kits.“
