“If you go to China and get out of the few shiny cities, it gets pretty grim pretty fast.”
Grant Newsham just revealed that China is not the juggernaut it pretends to be.
“In actual fact, it’s a very poor country.”
“There’s 600 million Chinese at least who live on $5 a day or less.”
“Youth unemployment is officially admitted to being about 17-20%, when actual fact is probably closer to 50%.”

No one denies that Chinese characters originated in China. The problem is that you’re confusing the origin of a writing system with how it evolved. Japan has never denied the Chinese origin of kanji, but over more than a thousand years it developed its own writing system, including hiragana and katakana, along with unique pronunciations and usages of kanji.
By your logic, every country that uses Arabic numerals belongs to Arab culture, every country using the Latin alphabet belongs to Rome, and English-speaking countries have no linguistic identity of their own. That’s simply not how history or culture works.
And by that same logic, you probably shouldn’t use Pinyin either—it’s not Chinese characters, is it? Yet it’s still an officially recognized writing and romanization system for Chinese.
