Thank you, @LiangChengMD , for partnering with us on this amazing project! It was a privilege to work together on such a critical topic. Understanding these long-term effects is essential for improving the quality of life for our survivors.
I am delighted to share our article, “Immune cell profiling of peripheral blood in long-term testicular germ cell tumor survivors,” published in Frontiers in Immunology. This study was led by Dr. Michael Chovanec @Mikechovanec and his outstanding team.
Our study demonstrates that both cisplatin-based chemotherapy and radiotherapy are associated with distinct alterations in specific immune cell populations, highlighting the long-term immunomodulatory effects of these treatment modalities.
Understanding the long-term physiological consequences of curative cancer therapies is imperative—not only to minimize unnecessary overtreatment, but also to ensure the best possible quality of life for cancer survivors. Identifying causal links between treatment exposure and immune alterations represents a critical step toward optimizing personalized cancer care.
