If a company is licensed, insured, bonded AND approved…
then causes a massive loss that basic due diligence could have prevented
who failed?
The company?
The insurer?
The surety?
The person who hired them?
Or is the entire system pretending “verification” means more than it does?
Pick one.
You approve the deal.
24 hours later, one fact comes to light.
Had you known it yesterday, you NEVER would have approved it.
Insurers. Lenders. Sureties. GCs. Investors. Customers.
What’s the one fact that could instantly change your decision?
Stripe is holding $5,692.50 of my money for 120 days because they decided my business is “high risk.”
No chargebacks. Customers got what they paid for. New processor already approved us.
Processors like Stripe can legally sit on small business funds for 120–180 days under “risk” language buried in their terms, effectively acting like unregulated banks while your rent, payroll, and vendors are due today.
If you’re a founder who’s had payouts frozen (Stripe, Square, PayPal, etc.), drop your story below. I’m compiling a public thread of cases + resources (CFPB complaints, state AG links, alternative processors) so founders aren’t stuck begging a chatbot for their own revenue. @stripe
@vercel I was overbilled by over $1,700 my site is currently down due to this. I have submitted support ticket and have not gotten a response in over 5 days.

Can you please help me with an issue with stripe that is truly hurting my business? We only processed 3 payments almost 2 months ago. Stripe said they are holding the funds for 120 days for potential disputes yet all 3 orders the products have been delivered and stripe could easily contact the customers to verify instead of having a small business owner wait 120 days......
@patrickc
@shin_jason58471@stripe@stripepress I feel like if we launch paid ads just informing people of our experience maybe they take us serious. I would have never done business with them if I would have done my due dillegence on them. The reddit stories and posts on here are mind boggling. It just doesn't make sense.
@stripesupport@stripe I have read that. Yet I still cannot understand why it would take 120 days for potential disputes if you could verify with the customer or just let us refund our customer.
How many small business owners have experienced this with stripe ? Not only have we not had a dispute, but only 3 transactions. Stripe could easily verify the 3 transactions in 10 minutes as we have already delivered the product. Yet we cannot even refund our customers.
@stripe
@stripe@stripe How do you guys hold our companies money for 120 days and say in case of charge backs yet you could contact all 3 customers in an hour and your reason for holding it 120 days is invalid. You guys can sink small businesses like this.
