@KeepBolinWild “The trail will be realigned to eliminate some of the sharper curves, improve drainage and relocate sections away from flood prone areas where possible”….insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results
FACT: Raleigh has over 4000 parking spaces for their greenway system. https://t.co/J52WyE70B1 ProPaver claims that paving will offset car emissions is a SHAM. The truth? Some privileged, able-bodied people want their own private sidewalk to Cafe Driade. Do better #Carrboro!!
The plan to expand N.C.s greenway system is rooted in NC’s $28 billion dollar tourist industry, not in conservation. The “Year of the Trail” legislation NC HB 554 was written by 4 republicans. All the praise of concrete showing up online stems from this bill. Wake UP #Carrboro
FACT: There was never broad public support to pave along Bolin Creek in Carrboro, NC. If there was, it would have been paved in 2009. @SierraClub@damonseils#Carrboro#greenway
@KeepBolinWild here is a spawning nest in Bolin creek being maintained free of silt by chub or stone rollers. They need this nice clean gravel for their eggs. It’s hard work.
See the ironic statement by our own mayor pitting community members against each other and taking sides in what is supposed to be a community dialogue. And using the language of the demagogue as well…ugh. Even Carrboro….I thought we were better.
Years of repetition of half-truths, misleading statements, and fearmongering have been really corrosive to the public discourse on this issue. It’s nice to see some community members finally organizing to present a clearer picture. #Carrboro https://t.co/92p17IiP60
@damonseils Pitting “some” community members against others is corrosive to town discourse. I hope you can appreciate the irony of your statement…and not good irony. And from a mayor. How sad.
Do we want this in Bolin Forest?

The smoother the path, the faster people ride. We need to take a stand and share the land. There are alternate routes that do not go straight through the heart of the forest.

@bolin_creek Other folks need to stop saying FOBC is against greenways. FOBC supports greenways. We are against certain greenway designs that threaten sensitive wetlands, important forest habitat, and your water quality.
All the impervious surface in the Bolin Creek Watershed is impairing our creek. Doing everything we can, starting with our homes, will help reduce its impact and help the stream..#CarrboroStormwater
