DEC - The main in-game currency of Splinterlands, valued at $1.00 per 1,000 DEC, even if it is at or below peg. Used to purchase or rent cards and can also be staked to earn $SPS rewards.

Glint - Non-transferrable currency used to purchase cards or items in the reward shop.

$SPS - The official governance token for Splinterlands.

Battles are are super quick and automatic....yes, i know some of you might not like auto battlers and its the same for me, but this one just hits different. There's still lots of strategy and other elements involved that'll still have you engaged and wanting to build your deck to formulate new strategies and get right back into another match.

There's just something about carefully selecting the right cards to prepare for battle, (you only have a short about time to prepare), seeing the match unfold and how your chosen cards hold up against your opponent's. Like watching a live sports match while you root for your team. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did and with the matches playing out super fast (speed is also adjustable) there's an urge to want to get right back in it. After winning matches and reaching the Bronze League, you'll be able to start playing for rewards!

I'm still super new and learning but eventually I'd like to do one of my proper overview videos about this to show you all a more in-depth look. 🔥

The utility of the #splinterlands vouchers token has been an area of concern for years now, but recently became a very contentious issue after talks of removing it from the game completely.

Although I am personally in the boat of removing them (like 69% of people who answered @Goldmatters_ recent poll), I am also satisfied with them simply becoming soulbound.

For a bit of context on why vouchers are such an issue, I'll begin at the inception of vouchers, where its purpose was supposed to be a "proof of time staked" for SPS. However, due to its transferable nature, vouchers do not live up to this since someone without any staked SPS can still buy it, allowing them to bypass the staking requirement of having vouchers, thus destroying the notion of it being "proof" of anything.

Another issue associated with vouchers is the difficulty of obtaining them, especially for non-crypto users, or even non-hive native users. This creates a terrible experience for onboarding new players who may want to buy packs directly from the store, or use any other feature that requires vouchers. Having the source of vouchers exclusively coming from staked SPS reduces the barrier of entry to simply obtaining SPS instead, which is much easier, or completely removed if vouchers were gone.

Lastly, and possibly the biggest issue of them all is that the current utility of vouchers compete directly with DEC utility, and with 40,000 vouchers minted daily, that is essentially 2mil DECs minted per day using the rough estimate of 1 voucher = 50 DEC (which is the conversion used for energy + wild pass). In my view, there is no way for SPS price will recover as long as vouchers are still being printed the way it is.

That is why I believe vouchers should be simply removed from the game with a sunset plan to let users convert vouchers to DEC-B. This will also simplify the SPS validator requirements confirmed by @Yabapmatt. At the very least vouchers will need to be made soulbound with an updated use case such as exclusive access to new features, new NFTs and promo cards. Although these utilities could have been given to DECs instead, at least voucher utility no longer directly competes with DEC utility.

I will be posting two proposals in the upcoming days, one to remove vouchers and one to revamp them to become soulbound. In the event both passes, the proposal with the highest weighted SPS votes will supersede the other.

@_cryptoeater LOVE the idea of removing vouchers completely, sunsetting them. I deliberately purchased a handful of node licenses and getting a steady voucher supply was certainly part of the decision to do so. But there downsides greatly outweigh the upsides, and I'd love to see them gone

@Dejota_SPS Love the idea but hate the idea of ditching LB prizes entirely, hate that it happened in the lower leagues. Plus it adds an extra hurdle. I'd LOVE to see a 50/50 situation. Reduce LBs by 50%, then make the tourney for the remaining 50% for those who choose to participate
