The federal government literally had to step in and order Colorado to keep its coal plants online because the state is facing massive electricity shortages and skyrocketing demand. The reason? Democrats have been systematically killing off cheap, reliable power before replacements are even ready.

But instead of taking the hint, Governor Jared Polis and state Democrats just signed HB26-1226. This vindictive little piece of legislation forces any coal plant ordered to stay open to install massively expensive new pollution controls and drown in red tape.

This is exactly how Democrats "fight Trump" and push their radical green energy transition: by intentionally making your cost of living as expensive as possible.

Let’s look at the actual math from the article:

📉 Coal generation cost: ~$32 per megawatt-hour.

💸 New wind/solar total system cost: Up to $200–$300 per megawatt-hour.

📈 Residential electricity rates have already surged 35% under Polis.

If you want to know what peak political hypocrisy looks like, look no further than Colorado Democrats.

Aurora City Councilman Rob Andrews (who, in a stroke of absolute irony, chairs the Public Safety Committee) just pled guilty to a DUI with a blood-alcohol level near three times the legal limit.

But it gets worse. When pulled over, instead of taking accountability, his first instinct was to flash his City Council ID to the cops—basically whispering, "Do you know who I am?"—and admitted on camera he was just worried about the public finding out. Then, his legal team tried to attack the credentials of the arresting officer. So much for "respecting law enforcement."

The icing on the cake? Andrews and his progressive majority on the council recently voted to restrict police from posting booking photos and suspect names on social media. Talk about perfect timing! He literally voted to censor public safety info after his own mugshot became a liability.

This isn't an isolated standard, either. It follows a tragic pattern of local Democrats expecting immunity from the very laws they write, just like the late state Sen. Faith Winter's history of alcohol abuse and fatal over-the-limit crash.

When conservative or independent officials step out of line, the media demands a crucifixion. But when a progressive Democrat abuses their power, acts entitled, and treats public safety like a personal shield, we're expected to accept an empty apology.

Andrews needs to step down. Aurora deserves representatives who actually obey the law, not elitists who think their title makes them above it.
