Semi-competent philosopher (Social Epistemology, Philosophy of Science), semi-competent web developer (Wordpress, PHP, React), semi-competent card game player.
@ijbailey Going to an “elite” institution isn’t primarily about quality of education. It’s about social capital. Going to Harvard puts your resume or CV at the top of the pile. That’s huge.
@KevinZollman There are good comments and bad questions. The probability of a truly terrible—long and annoying—comment is far higher than a truly terrible question.
@kvallier There is clearly testimonial evidence for theism. It is just extremely weak and better explained by human psychology and social dynamics.
As for scientific or observational evidence, I think "theism" is far too vague for there to be evidence for or against it.
@BernhardIsopp Beyond my personal situation, my point is that people might have any number of reasons behind their choices that you're not aware of, so I wouldn't judge someone for their vehicle, excepting pickup trucks flying flags in their beds and QAnon bumper stickers.
@BernhardIsopp Our Outback can fit three car seats across, you can load the kids without climbing into the car, it has way more trunk space than a minivan, and has better gas mileage than a Sienna.

@KonstantinKisin Reasons I don’t follow you:
(1) Your attacks on Sam Harris seemed incredibly bad faith and uncharitable. Just gotchas with no attempt at understanding.
(2) In general, you seem uninterested in understanding those who disagree with you.
(3) Centrist? Come on man.
@NicoleNuckolls The median US salary in 2022 is ~54,000. This seems like a capitalism problem more than an academia problem? Universities wouldn’t need to offer free childcare if the state did.
@samuel_e_bagg Focus on process? Students submit a proposal, outline, draft, revision, etc? You can see the evolution of the paper? It seems like this spells the end of writing assignments that value only the end product.
