🚨 The committee changed. The questions didn’t:
Sen. Jake Hoffman’s firm received at least $1.35M from Turning Point PAC to attack Democrats, days later he announced a duplicative and sham of an investigation.
Last Friday, Senate Democrats sent a letter to Senate Pres. Petersen to demand answers for his approval of Sen. Jake Hoffman’s actions in light of this alleged quid pro quo.

Sen Hoffman is using tax dollars to campaign for Andy Biggs which is against the law. And he’s being empowered to do so by the 2 GOP Senators who wrote the current version of the law Hoffman is violating: Warren Petersen and John Kavanagh. It is time for these GOP Senate Leaders to put a stop to this grifting and electioneering. It’s just the type of disregard for the law that an alleged fake elector would use to line his pockets. ⬇️
🚨JUST IN:
BIG WIN for Arizona voters. 🗳️
The Supreme Court rejected the administration’s attempt to impose new mail-voting restrictions ahead of the midterms.
Arizona’s decades-long vote-by-mail system remains in place. Nothing changes: make a plan, get informed and VOTE.

🚨 PRESS RELEASE: Fighting for an Arizona We Can Afford: Senate Democrats Celebrate Key Legislative Wins
“Even in divided government, we proved that progress is possible. We protected healthcare, defended voting rights, fought for affordability, and never stopped putting Arizona families first.” - Arizona Senate Democrats

On May 14th, Senate Democrats demanded an audit of Arizona’s billion-dollar ESA voucher program after auditors uncovered more fraud, abuse, and mismanagement.
Republican leaders didn’t even put the request on this week’s agenda.
When it comes to ESA vouchers, transparency gets ignored and accountability gets blocked. Arizona taxpayers deserve answers. We won’t stop pushing until they get them.

🚨 PRESS RELEASE: Arizona families deserve accountability.
Senate Democrats are calling for a full audit of the billion-dollar ESA voucher program after reports of questionable spending, weak oversight, and potential fraud.
Taxpayer dollars should go toward education, not luxury trips, jewelry, or lingerie. It’s time for real transparency and accountability.

🚨PRESS RELEASE: The decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to gut the Voting Rights Act is a devastating step backward for our democracy.
In Arizona, this ruling is already being weaponized for political gain. Senate President Warren Petersen called our maps “racist” and is openly threatening litigation to force a redraw, demanding that Arizona eliminate districts that contemplate minority communities.
Senate Democrats will not stand by while extremists attempt to roll back voting rights and undermine the will of the people. Fair maps are fundamental to a healthy democracy, and we will continue to fight to protect them.

An upcoming TPUSA rally in Phoenix with President Trump appears to be part of a larger effort to collect voter data by a new non profit led by Amy Smith, who is married to a former state lawmaker and Turning Point staffer who forged petition signatures.

PRESS RELEASE: Senate Democrats Respond to Trump’s Executive Order
Attacking Vote by Mail:
Trump’s executive order targeting vote-by-mail is unconstitutional and based on debunked claims. It threatens access to the ballot and oversteps federal authority. Arizona already has secure systems in place, we’ll defend voters’ rights. ⬇️

Instead of trying to score political points in the wake of a tragedy, you could have shared our vote explanations.
We recognized the importance of this bill, while also raising concerns about how certain provisions, added during committee, might affect survivors of domestic violence.
We made clear that we want to support this legislation and expressed our hope to vote for it on the floor after further input and thoughtful revisions.

Real talk: why are Republicans trying to change a law that already exists?
Everything they claim HCR2001 adds: citizenship verification, ID, ballot security, is already part of Arizona law. Meanwhile, over 80% of voters safely use mail-in ballots every election.
Instead of addressing real issues, this referral focuses on unfounded fears and opens the door to rolling back a system that voters trust and rely on. We don’t need to fix what isn’t broken.
Republicans once again out of touch with reality.

Here we go again.
The failed Cyber Ninjas “fraudit” was a national embarrassment for the Arizona Senate, wasting millions of dollars trying and failing to prove conspiracy theories about the 2020 election in Maricopa County.
It’s deeply concerning to learn through social media that the Senate President has suddenly revived this nonsense by turning over voter information to the federal government.
Arizona’s elections are free, fair, and secure, and Arizonans deserve elections they can trust. Actions like this fail our voters in an attempt to stroke the ego of one man who still refuses to move on from an election he lost six years ago. -
Sen. Priya Sundareshan- Senate Democratic Leader @priya4az

Spoiler alert- WE ALL KNEW SENATOR HOFFMAN WASN’T COMING TO TESTIFY. Yet Senator Rogers held the bill to mandate ICE at all polling places at the last moment - after making 100+ people sit in committee all day for the 2nd time this week, while she took an hour lunch break to eat pizza. Sometimes even we’re shocked to see the LOWS our colleagues will stoop to… we’re livid.
Voters have made it clear, they’re sick of the repeated attacks on their ability to vote by mail. But don’t take it from us, take it from Republican Senator John Kavanagh who voted in favor of a ballot referral that would open the door for Republicans to eliminate mail voting in the future.
Arizona already requires DPOC and Voter ID, responsibly uses the SAVE system and we clean our voter rolls with ERIC.
Secretary Noem’s grandstanding about the integrity of Arizona’s elections is spreading misinformation. In fact, legislative Republican efforts to limit early voting options will create more polling place lines. If she wants to support some real reforms that would help voters and protect election security, check out our Voters First Act (https://t.co/JPNTOBbCfz).
While Democrats were speaking about the killing of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis a federal agent shooting that has sparked national outrage and calls for accountability every Senate Republican left the floor. Today Rep. Sen. Jake Hoffman criticized Democrats for leaving the floor while explaining his vote on a resolution calling for Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes to resign. Is it a double standard, where only some voices seem to matter or get attention?

The very first bill Legislative Republicans introduced this session was to strip Arizonans of their voting rights -- not legislation that would address issues facing everyday people, like the affordability crisis. Today, Legislative Democratic Leaders Priya Sundareshan and Oscar De Los Santos introduced the Voters First Act, which will expand Arizonans' voter rights and secure our elections.
& Despite Senator Finchem’s claims that the Arizona State Bar is replete with sex criminals, that is not the case.
And spoiler alert- this was why he was disbarred. Here’s the actual disbarment order for Jeffery Moffatt: https://t.co/REzbhXZL0a
