Get Unrealistic

There is a process that I have used, and still use, to reignite life...👇

Create two timelines—6 months and 12 months—and list up to five things you dream of having (including, but not limited to, material wants: house, car, clothing, etc.), being (be a great cook, be fluent in Chinese, etc.), and doing (visiting Thailand, tracing your roots overseas, racing ostriches, etc.) in that order.

If you have difficulty identifying what you want in some categories, as most will, consider what you hate or fear in each and write down the opposite.

Do not limit yourself, and do not concern yourself with how these things will be accomplished. For now, it’s unimportant. This is an exercise in reversing repression.

Be sure not to judge or fool yourself. If you really want a Ferrari, don’t put down solving world hunger out of guilt. For some, the dream will be fame, for others fortune or prestige. All people have their vices and insecurities. If something will improve your feeling of self-worth, put it down.

Drawing a blank? In that case, consider these questions:

What would you do, day to day, if you had $100 million in the bank?

What would make you most excited to wake up in the morning to another day?

Don’t rush—think about it for a few minutes.

If still blocked, fill in the five “doing” spots with the following:

one place to visit
one thing to do before you die (a memory of a lifetime) one thing to do daily
one thing to do weekly
one thing you’ve always wanted to learn

What does “being” entail doing?

Convert each “being” into a “doing” to make it actionable. Identify an action that would characterize this state of being or a task that would mean you had achieved it. People find it easier to brainstorm “being” first, but this column is just a temporary holding spot for “doing” actions.

Here are a few examples:

1) Great cook —> make Christmas dinner without help

2) Fluent in Chinese —> have a five-minute conversation with a Chinese co-worker

Determine three steps for each of the dreams in just the 6-month timeline and take the first step now.

Define three steps for each dream that will get you closer to its actualization. Set actions—simple, well-defined actions—for now, tomorrow (complete before 11 A.M.) and the day after (again completed before 11 A.M.). Once you have three steps for each of the four goals, complete the three actions in the “now” column.

Do it now. Each should be simple enough to do in five minutes or less. If not, rachet it down. If it’s the middle of the night and you can’t call someone, do something else now, such as send an e-mail, and set the call for first thing tomorrow.

If the next stage is some form of research, get in touch with someone who knows the answer instead of spending too much time in books or online, which can turn into paralysis by analysis.

The best first step, the one I recommend, is finding someone who’s done it and ask for advice on how to do the same.

The Future of Real Vision...

Many people try to pigeonhole Real Vision into their view of the world but we refuse to be categorised beyond our mission to help as many people in their financial journey as possible. Everyone has a right to be armed with the same tools and knowledge as everyone else.

RV lives proudly at the nexus of tradfi, crypto, and tech as we believe these to be the most important parts of the full macro opportunity landscape. It is all part of one megatrend that ebbs and flows but we also know that different people have different needs and wants.

But Real Vision doesn't have an opinion beyond that. We are an open platform for discussion, ideas, and knowledge, covering all angles by bringing together the greatest minds in the world. You get the choice of what you consume and to get exposure to widely different opinions to help you grow.

We are not for the close-minded, we are for the open-minded, those that seek new information and knowledge. Those that desire a deeper understanding.

Before RV, long-form videos of financial discussions and interviews did not really exist. All the podcasts that exist today likely do so because RV pioneered the field. Although macro investing is our core, we also pioneered crypto content back in 2014 (well before anyone else) and even focused on AI back in 2018/9. We have always been ahead of the crowd and our next step is to be pioneers yet again.

In around 6 weeks, we will take a giant leap forwards in our mission by revealing the inital version of an entirely new RV platform experience that will introduce all the learning, knowledge, tools and connections you need to become a better, more informed investor.

What we launch with will just be the start of something much bigger that will evolve rapidly from there...

"RV 2.0" as it is dubbed in-house will completely re-work the content experience into a "knowledge center" with the ability to consume content in new ways and to take and store/catalogue your notes as you go (and eventually share the with others) along with a new unique ML-driven search experience putting contol of your content at your fingertips. A.I. will help serve the content you want, or need, in the way that works for you.

But in addition, we will add market pricing, charting, AI insights (evolving into RV AI Chatbot using our own proprietary data plus other data sets). You will eventually be able to integrate with your brokerage/custody account to give you cutting edge portfolio management tools (with portfolio AI insights to guide you), risk management tools and much more.

We will be adding news too and other key integrations and it will cover both tradfi and crypto (your choice).

We also know that the RV network of our members is the most valuable part of Real Vision and we are going to reimagine how community can work and be represented globally. How we all connect with each other is vitally important to all of us and I think we can break new ground here, creating a super powerful global network - The Hive Mind, both in person and in an online/metaverse world. The first iteration of this vision will launch in June/July too. This is not social media but a powerful network tool, putting the power of the network into all our hands. Again, the launch version is just the start of our ambitions to change the game.

All of this will seemlessly integrate over time with Web3 too (should you want to - it is all about choice). Crypto data, content, NFT communities, token-gated content, wallet integrations and more are a core functionality. If you aren't interested in Web3, no problem either, it wil not detract from your experience on the new platform as you configure your knowledge center - this is a platform for all finance.

Additionally, we are in the early stage of building a much needed market place for curated independent research to make it easier for research providers and consumers to find each other, outside of shouting for attention on Twitter in the hope that someone notices.

What we are really building is the "Super Community of Finance built on the Super Platform of Finance - a single place for al of us to live our financial lives"

It's a BIG vision and one that is sorely needed as we all live across so many incomplete platform experiences.

We want to bring it all together in a simple, undertstandable and fresh experience for the future, not replicating the past.

The inital launch of RV 2.0 is just the start - our early steps but I think you'll love it. It will evolve fast from there.

We have building out our talented tech and product teams over the last year which will give us the ability to learn from our members, iterate and improve at a rapid pace; creating new experiences, functonality and features. Eventually we will allow others to build upon the network too.

Years of planning and work have gone into this. We beleive in our mission and we want to help level the playing field well beyond just the 1.5m people in our current comunity. A.I. will soon help us deliver in differtent languages too.

It is a very exciting time and the summer launch of RV 2.0 is just the first step in a much bigger, more impactful journey.

Assume you’re always being manipulated

An important message for the Real Vision community...

Occasionally, we get a bunch of negative mentions on Twitter, from a select group of “competitors” and individuals who are seeking attention for personal gain. Normally we ignore this, as we prefer not to help people with their own marketing campaigns (and this is Twitter after all...)

So, we’ve remained quiet. We prefer to focus on our mission to help people navigate these complex times, like we have since 2014. We take pride in offering a platform that fosters open discussion from all perspectives, uniquely positioned at the nexus of macro, crypto, and technology - and above all, we stand proudly for our community and our commitment to serving their needs.

But we can no longer remain silent, because frankly, this misinformation is now unfairly affecting our staff, and increasingly angering our global community.

This misinformation is harmful, and could deprive you of the unbiased and broad information you need, whether macro or crypto. It may hinder your ability to acquire the knowledge you deserve - knowledge with which to make your own decisions and take control of your own finances. Remember, we always encourage you to do your own research.  Nobody has a crystal ball...

Real Vision and our community care about facts.

So, here are some facts...

Firstly, we’ve been a very successful business throughout the years but we’ve certainly had to fight for it. Even though we’ve managed to produce record revenues every year for the last 5 years, we take nothing for granted and our focus is always on over-delivering for members.

Secondly, Real Vision has never taken sponsorship money from FTX. In fact, we use sponsorships very sparingly, and only to support our free shows - and we ALWAYS disclose those sponsorships. Journalistic integrity is at the core of our mission. Our business model remains subscription-centric for this very reason. The information we bring to the community will not be compromised.

Next, far from taking a step back, Real Vision is taking a big leap forward. We’ve been hiring new Visionaries to build the next iteration of Real Vision, and this next iteration is the biggest and most ambitious step we’ve taken yet as a company. We haven’t broadly shared our plans for the new platform yet. But stay tuned for the “Real Vision 2.0” announcement - we can’t wait to unveil it.

Toward that effort, we have greatly expanded our engineering and product teams to ensure that the entirely new Real Vision 2.0 platform delivers on its promise. We've been working towards its launch for years, all along listening to our community’s needs. (Spoiler alert: Everything we do is for our community).

As part of this change, sadly we had to say goodbye to some incredible Visionaries and old friends. It’s gut-wrenching and not something anyone wants to go through. But regretfully it was necessary to stay disciplined and focused on the future.

It’s important to note, however, that the numbers floating around are a particularly egregious falsehood. It’s truly disappointing to see such a total abdication of facts.

We know that this message will probably be met by a Twitter pile-on from a few, and frankly? We don’t care.

We wanted our Real Vision community to hear this: We receive far more positive feedback daily from the people who tell us that we’ve changed their lives for the better. We hear from the people who have made lifelong friends at our events, the people who have helped each other and us endlessly, the people without whom Real Vision doesn’t exist.

And we can’t thank them, and you, our community, enough for being such passionate supporters of Real Vision and part of the most incredible community in finance. This is what keeps us going.

Real Visionaries, we cannot wait to unveil the new platform to you this summer. You’ll be hearing more about it in the coming weeks... In the meantime, we’re always around to chat at [email protected].
