T-bills vs money market funds. The core difference.

Treasury Bills.

Rate is fixed the moment you buy, locked in for the full term, 91, 182, or 364 days, regardless of what happens to rates after.

Minimum entry through your bank or broker is usually ₦10,000 to ₦100,000.

Your money is tied up until maturity. Exiting early usually means selling at a discount on the secondary market, and isn't always possible through retail channels.

Managed by the CBN directly, or accessed through your bank.

Money market mutual funds.

Interest accrues daily. Your money grows day by day, and the rate can change with the market over time.

Minimum entry is low, some funds start from ₦1,000 to ₦5,000.

Withdraw anytime, usually same day or next business day.

Managed by a SEC registered asset manager

Who should use what.

Use T-bills if you have a lump sum you won't need before a fixed date, and you want today's rate locked in no matter where the CBN moves next.

Use a money market fund if you want flexibility, smaller entry amounts, or you're building an emergency fund you might need to touch on short notice.

Many people use both. T-bills for money with a clear end date. Money market funds for money that needs to stay liquid.

Since 2024, I once launched a smart glass for the visually impaired called V1 but at that time I didn’t have enough experience sufficient tools or much expertise However, I tried my best to create the glass’s microcontroller by myself when I was 17 years old

Now in 2026, I am working on V2, where gaining experience and getting more tools have helped me expand it

Now V3 is coming, which I expect will finally be the production version

I think it will be something amazing and create a force that will show that young people in Nigeria can build what is being built in other countries

The power of awareness and pushing it forward is what we need
